WalMart delays?

Walmart.com sent me a message saying that due to availability, there would be a delay in my shipment of 3.5 books. I guess they got more orders than expected. Or perhaps this is a "we hadn't considered the real release date" thing.

I'll be out of town when it is supposed to ship anyways, but did anyone else get a message like this? Perhaps more telling, did anyone NOT get a message like this who ordered from walmart (because that would tell me if this is just an embargo issue.)

I got the same message but my delivery dates have not changed. If I recall correctly some people had a delivery date of the 2nd. Mine has always been the week of the 7th to 11th.

I'm glad they sent out an information message. I'm not going to worry about it at all.

Is it typical of members of this board to have knee jerk reactions about everything? :)

There's another thread about this.

I actually called Walmart before jumping to conclusions when I got the email and its the manufacturer that is screwing us over. This comes as no surprise to me, I was hoping for a miracle but this was not to be and WoTC is living up to thier destiny as inept as usual.

Looking at this from a different angle, I don't really expect to be switching over right away anyway, so a week or two delay is not that big a deal. Plus its still worth the wait to save damn near 40 dollars. :)

I agree that it sucks tobe delayed, but it isnt telling me how long the delay will be. I am curious to see if it will be week, a month, a year, whatever...

The books themselves are now listed as Out of Stock at Walmart.com, as opposed to being Not Yet Published.

I'm thinking they expected the books in, and either got a limited initial shipment or haven't got any yet. One wonders if Wal-Mart is considered a preferential customer.

Cheers,
Cam

Yea, WOTC is very inept to actually make Walmart play by the same rules as everyone else that they sell to.

I got a delay message this morning. My expected dates were the 7th - 11th as well. No big deal, since my last D&D game for quite a while is on the 5th. Just rather annoying.

But then again, if I'd gotten the books locally, someone would have to be running a buy 2 get 1 free sale for me to get the same price.

I usually expect to get new WotC products a month late here in Switzerland (Which is why I am fond of PDFs). My interest in 3.5E has been waxing lately, so it does not bother me anymore. Now, if only "Testament " would arrive today...
