Wand of Orcus?

So there is no save or die roll when the wand touches you?

Nope no save, just a powerful smack upside a hero's head.
Please keep in mind that the Wand of (D)Orcus is something I wrote with a fever :p If I had proper motivation I could probably churn out 6 to 10 artifacts along these lines for both the villains and (yuck) the heros.

Oh I am adding the (D) for a reason. Its the Dreaded Wand of Dorkus! hehe, I need to get something to eat :)

Oh you want scary huh?

Wand of (D)Orcus
Wand may be used as a Chaotic Mace dealing 10d6+5. Creautres of Good Alignment take and additional 6d6 of damage.

Agumented Critical: on a roll of 6-20 a critical hit is scored. This ablitiy only works in the hands of Orcus or a mortal that has been chosen by Orcus to weild the Wand. There is no save against this power.

Spell Turning: the Wand can turn upto 8 levels of spells three times per day. A free action activates this power.

Nullification: On command the wand can dispel any spell of 9 level or lower. Doing so is a full round action, the Wand automaticaly cancels any AntiMagic fields that are cast upon it. This ablitiy may be used any number of times per day.

Demonic Feveor: In the hands of a demon or devil the Wand regenerates 2d6 hit points a round. This will regenerate lost limbs. Damage from Holy sorces are not regenerated. This is a free action.

Any character of a non-evil alignment gains 7 negitive levels upon touching this wand. Only a Wish or Miracle cast by at least a 16 level spellcaster can remove them.

Corruption: Any Character of Neutral alignment who takes the Wand must make a will save (DC 12+character level) or have their alignment shifted to evil.

There you go, something scary. And boy howdy will it make a nice crunch when you hit someone. :)

(Added the No save to the damage and a penelty for those goody-goodies who take it)

*blinks* What version of the Book of Vile Deeds do you have?

The Wand of Orcus featured therein has the following attributes:

If wielded in melee, it's a +6 Unholy Chaotic Heavy Mace. If the wand touches any nonoutsider, or an outsider with less then 15 HD, the target must suceed at a Fort save (DC 25) or die immediatly. Anyone that touches the wand against Orcus' will must save or die as well.

It also confers a +5 deflection bonus to the Armor Class of the wielder at all times.

Finally, the wielder can call upon each of the following effects once per day, as the spells cast by a 20th-level caster: Abyssal Might, Bodak birth, Call Nightmare, Clutch of Orcus (DC 18), Summon Monstrer VII, Wrack (DC 18), and Wretched Blight (15d8 Damage, DC 23).

So, your opinion on the official version?

My opinion on the official version (if indeed that is it) is that posting it here is yet another bit of copyright piracy. Oh well, at least it was avoided for a day or so.

Two things
1. I wrote the one above myself, I don't have the BOVD yet.
2. I perfer my version anyway :p

Could some please post the OFFICIAL stats for the Wand of Orcus from the WOTC Book of Vile Darkness? The official stats are the only stats I am interested in. A few people already have the BoVD, so I know someone can answer this question. Remember, you can always email me at greymarch@yahoo.com

They're the stats above. The ones posted by LoneWolf.

Anyone care to post the official Spell Resistance for Orcus? I could also use his hit points, and Armor class, but its really his spell resistance that I need the most.

Hi there! :)

I must admit I was confused myself - there seemed something fishy in the amount of damage it was doing. :D

Pretty much spot on with what I would have figured.

The Hit Dice limit makes absolutely no sense - why not just have a save DC!?

Okay.

Seems to be making nice use of the Book of Vile Darkness.

Pretty good (looking forward to seeing what those spells can do), though no real surprises - a more powerful version of Orcus (Lesser God for instance) might give the artifact the powers of a demilich howl...of course WotC had to go change the epic rule version of the Demilich so it has no howl.

Sorry to Cerubus, I didn't notice the "homebrewed" comment until after I'd posted. :D !

I figure that the Hit Dice limit means that the Wand's power doesn't affect Outsiders powerful enough to withstand it, like Orcus (or else he'd risk killing himself everytime he used it). Although I'd have boosted the limit to 20 HD, since it's meant for REALLY powerful beings.
