Wand of Orcus?

A question regarding corrupt spells: Is the issue of undead casting these spells mentioned?
If the corrupt spells are similar to those in Dragon #300 (which I assume), you take ability damage for casting damage - to which undead are immune.

I would have to think they would be immune, but then again I don't think that may have come up during the play testing. Oh well wait and see.

Thanks for the answers Lonewolf, and now I have three more questions:

1. It sounds like there is a section in the BoVD that lists evil artifacts, like the Wand of Orcus, is this true? If so, I assume the Wand of Orcus is listed under the artifacts?

2. Is the Wand of Orcus now a rod instead of a wand? Is it now called the Rod of Orcus? I am confused by this. How can the wand of Orcus be a rod, or even a heavy mace for that matter.

3. Could you also provide Orcus's spell resistance number?

If you can't get someone to post the SR number for Orcus in time for your campaign, it should be roughly his HD +11 + whatever extra bonus you feel like giving him. I would say his SR should be around 37-40.

Hi all! :)

To greymarch:

Remember that Orcus is 15ft tall a 'wand' to him is going to be akin to a 'rod' for medium size creatures.

To Golem Joe:

The ArchDevils/Demon Princes in the Book of Vile Darkness are set in and around Challenge Rating 30* they are not as powerful as true deities; nor are they as powerful as many epic monsters. This was to facilitate interaction by setting them at about the limit for standard PCs (up to 20th-level) to reasonably challenge.

*Feel free someone to relay the actual Challenge Ratings.

To someone with the Book of Vile Darkness:

In the list of artifacts does in have Graz'zts sword "Doomscreamer"? (+6 Acid Burst; Unholy; Huge Bastard Sword I'm guessing?)

Do all the ArchDevils/Demon Princes have in and around the same Hit Dice?

The more of this I see ahead of time, the more disappointed I am with the relative power of these guys. While I'm excited to read the book and all that, I still believe that they made them too weak. That "wand" is a child's toy for something that's supposed to be the Demon Prince of Undead. I think the wand that appeared in DUNGEON some time ago had far more promise.

Anyway, I suppose most of us will have to wait until this week (or next) to decide our position. Something tells me that I will need to "tweak" the arch-fiends to make them more like planar lords rather than souped up fiends.

So anyways, I'm looking at the General Discussion forum, you know, and there's this "Wand of Orcus" thread, you know, and it's sitting right next to the "How big is your world?" thread, you know, and next thing my synapses are crossed, you know, and I'm like, I'm asking the question, "How big is your Wand of Orcus?"

Hong "you know" Ooi

Cerebrus got the dread Wand of (D)Orcus out of the Hackmaster BoVD. That is why the stats are slightly different. And there (D)Orcus is a major greater Gawd as are the other "big player" lords

I'm sure the (D) means it's powers are dispellable at will.

Back to seriousness.

There are stats for Orcus in both Rappan Athuk III and a dungeon module (I think the one timed with epic adventures) as well as BoVD and Tome of Horrors will have him as well so you can take your pick of 3e stats. I don't have any of them so I can not provide you with those stats.

There is also the 1e MM, DMG, and manual of the planes, the 2e book of artefacts and the planescape modules, and hackmaster for alternative system stats for him and the rod. (Also a role aids supplement Monsters of Myth and Legend III I think with the roman pantheon).

There is only one set of stats that count for Orcus: the BoVD stats. All the other versions are either outdated, or were never official in the first place. I know a few people reading these messageboards have the BoVD, so what is the official spell resistance for the official Orcus?
