Wand of Orcus?

There is only one set of stats that count for Orcus: the BoVD stats. All the other versions are either outdated, or were never official in the first place. I know a few people reading these messageboards have the BoVD, so what is the official spell resistance for the official Orcus?

Actually ANY one of them is a good one to use. And lets keep in mind that its not good to post the stats for something that is copyrighted.

People post stats from roleplaying games all the time. Its virtually impossible not to on a messageboard like this. For example, Elminister has an AC of 31 in the Epic Level Handbook. I didnt break any copyright laws for mentioning that, and people post simple stats like that all the time.

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times."

I didnt break any copyright laws for the above statement either.

I am not looking for the complete write-up of Orcus, or his wand. Fortunately someone was kind enough to post the stats for the wand, now all I want is the official Spell resistance for the official Orcus.

There might be plenty of stats that are good to use for Orcus; if that was the case, I would simply make my own stats. No, I want the OFFICIAL spell resistance for the OFFICIAL Orcus. That means the Orcus that appears in the BoVD. Anything else is a fraud IMO.

Perhaps, but posting copyrighted material is one sure way of making a thread, or at least the post that contains it go bye-bye. I'm not saying posting a snippet saying "Orcus' SR is 40" is good/bad/ugly; just saying that posting copyrighted material will kill a thread quicker than anything on here.

EDIT: And before anyone says anything, I am well aware that Greymarch wasn't asking for the complete stats for Orcus or anything. :)

That's the question. When are you posting copyrighted information, and when are you simply stating a fact? When I say that Lord Peirgeron is a 16th level Paladin, I am not breaking any copyright laws. If someone posts Orcus's spell resistance, they arent breaking copyright laws either. I have no idea why we are even discussing this. Its moot. Stating a fact is not copyright infringement. This thread certainly shouldnt stop, because no one has come EVEN close to breaking any copyright laws, no matter what anyone says.

Well, as for this discussion of Orcus and his stats and what's official... I already know that I will be using the suggestions in the book to raise him to a Lesser god... and I'll also change his Wand a bit, making it more like the Wand in the original Dungeon Master's Guide from 1ed.

Personally, while I do respect the official word, I don't think it has to be the be all end all when it comes to this kind of stuff.... at least with regards to most monsters. While I tend to be hesitant to use some magic items and spells from secondary (non-WotC sources), I don't have the same problem with monsters.

I do think that Necromancer Games and some of the other folks out there whom I call "Orcusphiles" may want to consider melding the official Orcus stats with their own... assuming the official stats are ever Open License (unlikely). Frankly, I thought the Orcus from Rappan Thuk or whatever it's called was a little on the weak side in some areas (he should have been calling Demons and Undead rather than summoning them) and I don't know that they took full advantage of using Salient Divine Abilities in a manner similar to how these showed up in Call of Cthulu.

As for posting information to these boards... As long as no one's posting every last tid-bit, I don't see the hesitancy. I remember when the Epic Level Handbook came out. I was happy that people who had access to the book before me were kind enough to post information on it early on because it intensified my desire to purchase it (even though I had already determined that course of action months earlier). If anything, dropping little bits of information is to WotC's advantage since people on the fence are more likely to purchase it after they get some of their questions answered.
