Warcraft III help

The last Undead mission is one of the toughest in the game IMO.
Among the missions still before you, I'd say only a very few Night Elves missions are as difficult or more so. Also, your skills will increase more and more while playing. :)

The orc missions generally aren't that difficult - though I must say I've always found the third orc mission somewhat tough. Much more so than even the last orc missions, in fact...
You mean the one where Grom Hellscream (as an NPC) keeps attacking the 4 human towns alone (stupid blademaster...)?

My wife failed on her first try (she decided to attack the nearest humans first), but then managed to erradicate the humans on her second try (she went for gray town first, then the blue, then the green, and by then the purple orcs managed to kill off the light blue town).

Next, she's commanding Grom in the "harvest 15000 lumber" mission (so the night elves are about to make their first appearance).

The only orc mission I can recall being somewhat tough was the one, where you have to protect the caravan with some Tauren mostly.

@Darkness: I have only played the game unpatched. It's quite a while, that I even played it at all, I just like Starcraft so much better. I'm still playing that regularily. The heroes in Warcraft III completely ruined the game in multiplayer for me. I hope they stay away from those in Starcraft II (whenever they will do that, but they certainly will do so eventually), or at least make them optional. Also the weird gfx are somewhat irritating in Warcraft III, I prefer the Starcraft visuals. And yeah, there are probably many different ways to play the game effectively. Good thing that. :)

Yep, that's the one. When I played the orc campaign for the first time, this mission was the toughest one of the orc missions for me.

Gawd, I remember having to fight unpatched Spirit Towers when they first show up in the human campaign. Scary stuff - much more so than the necros, ghouls and skeletons that are also present.
Starcraft rocks. I'll have to finish Brood War some day; I think I never did play the last few missions...

As a quick follow-up, my wife and I managed to complete the game today (with me playing the last night elf mission).

Night Elves rock, and I want to include a night-elvish culture in my game. Time to break out the Warcraft RPG book!

Will try and get Frozen Throne later...

I didn't find it tough, either--but I think I handled it a little differently, too. AS SOON AS the final wave of human forces came, I abandoned all my settlements and retreated everyone back to the lich. The humans thereby divided their forces--siege guys going after buildings, while offense came after the middle--and I was able to face them with my full forces. I kept the death knight mostly out of battle and saved his mana for healing the lich-king. And of course I mined the central area heavily.

Remember that the gate is down. The point of this mission isn't to defend your town; in the last sixty seconds, your town is gonna be toast no matter what you do. The goal is to defend the necromancer.

Darkness, definitely play Brood War. The last mission of it is incredibly tough, but worth it. The veteran campaign that comes packaged with Brood War is even tougher. And the final movie rocks. I should dig that game out again!

Strange. For me, the toughest mission in the orc campaign has always been the one where you need to kill Cenarius, mainly because the night elves keep attacking your base while you try to get Grom to the fountain.

Still, I enjoy that mission because, as an elf-hater, I get a giddy thrill out of killing elves. :p

Jezter -> I didn't find that one particularly hard (well, it had to be played twice to be beaten). But once I got to play the night elves, I just loved their distinctive feel (being more raw and primal than the regular pansy elves of RPGs in general). And the Huntress unit (with large shield and moonglaive in hand, riding darksaber panthers) is just too cool!

slightly off-topic: I've been hunting down REH Conan books in Portuguese to read, and there aren't any! The only Conan story I managed to read (as opposed to comics) was Tower of the Elephant (from where that great sig o'yours come).

True, the night elves do have a more primal and primative culture than regular pansy elves, and are definately tougher. I just didn't care for the personalities of the night elf heroes: Tyrande and Furion were both self-righteous, while Illidain was a whiner. The night elf hero in the Frozen Throne, Maiev Shadowsong, is quite a bit cooler.

Good luck finding Conan books in Portugese, though! REH's Conan stories are my favorite fantasy tales of all time, and I re-read them on a yearly basis. :)

Yeah the NE heros were lame.

Arthas ruled IMO, he went down the dark path so well. Every step of the way I'm like well duh maybe its a bit grey area like but its the smart thing to do. He just felt like a guy willing to make the tough choices while everyone else was wussing out around him.

And then there were Orcs with not just 1 cool hero but 2 cool heros.
