The launch date for Cubicle 7's WFRP 4E has been revealed -- the game is being released at the UK Games Expo in Birmingham, 1st-3rd June. Check out the video below at the 19-minute mark.

All I know is what I posted. There wasn't anything on C7's website as of yesterday, although it does match their stated intent of "mid 2018"

Super excited for this one. Wish I could get a hold of the game, but a trip to U.K. is not in the cards for me.

There has been amazingly little marketing hype on this game considering it’s popularity. I have subscribed to their newsletter for months and... nothing.

Does anyone know anything about the rules engine in the 4th edition? Hopefully they’ll replace the one from 2nd edition, which I consider its biggest flaw.

There's been basically no information about the design of the game, and no news in months. The cubicle7 site says this

"Design lead Dominic McDowall is on hand to tell us about the game’s development:“The initial plan was to make some small updates to the awesome second edition, and that would mean we would be able to release the game in 2017. We’re all huge fans of the first and second editions of WFRP, and we wanted to take the game back to those roots.
“When I got into the guts of the game I started seeing more opportunities to add in some of the things we’ve learned over the years. This more creative direction meant a longer development phase. Games Workshop are extremely supportive of us taking the time we need to make WFRP Fourth Edition the very best game it can be, and so that’s what we did. I’m very excited about the way things have come together!"

There's also some book cover art but....thats it. I'm largely hopeful due to the wonderful stewardship of the LotR IP with both The One Ring and Adventures in Middle Earth, but we won't know for sure until June.

The last info I see in the C7 forums is that they are doing a separate Starter Set from the Core Rules, so what is shown here may just be the Starter Set.

it was confirmed through back channel discussions that Cubicle 7 delayed Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Fourth edition due to the release of Zweihänder Grim & Perilous RPG. The direct quote was that the version they had prepared for release was “...viewed with embarrassment” when compared to Zweihänder’s comprehensiveness. Cubicle 7 then went back to the drawing board to refine WFRP 4e, and pulled in Graeme Davis to give it some much-needed star power.

That being said, I will be first in line to pick up the Starter Set! I couldn’t be more excited for Cubicle 7.

Hmmm... I looked at Zweihander's and... while there were some intriguing, and quite valid ideas in there, overall... I didn't like it. So let's hope that they take the good parts and not the not so good ones...

I don't recall Cubicle 7 ever mentioning your RPG. Ever. You on the other hand seem to try to link Warhammer to your RPG. All the time. I view your "direct quote" with real skepticism. If your RPG is so great why didn't Cubicle 7 hire you instead of Graeme Davis? I cannot release the names of my sources. I can tell you that these two sources are internally and directly connected to both GW and Cubicle 7.

That being said, I’ll still be first in line to preorder WFRP4e. Because at the end of the day, I am a Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay fan first and foremost, and a writer of Zweihänder Grim & Perilous RPG second.

Moniker is the creator of Zweihander. And while I probably like that game more than you it significantly lowers my opinion of the whole project when the creator jumps on random threads trying to promote it by throwing shade at the competition.

It especially rings false given Cubicle 7 has a stellar reputation for adapting other peoples material. TOR and AiME were both well considered in production and rules, and I can only imagine how bad it would be for them as a company if they sunk a massive release like WFRP. I have an incredibly hard time believing that they would just phone in a project this large.
