Warhammer RPG release schedule

White Wolf magazine, back in the day, used to do a lot of coverage of many game systems.
Then it became Inphobia and sucked and died as it deserved to.

Not that familiar with White Wolf mag. I thought you were talking about White Dwarf because they too used to cover a wider variety of topics than they appear to now with their focus on Warhammer 40k (which I'm not interested in at all).

Just like Hand of Evil, we played a lot of Warhammer after feeling dissatisfied with 2nd ed. D&D. The gritty adventures were great, as were the villiains. I personally loved all of the variations of the hordes of chaos. And heck, the Skaven were so cool, you can look and see spin-offs such as the Slitheren from Sword and Sorcery.

It was fun to play, and I'll definitely take a look at the new books. But unless someone offers to start up a campaign where I can play, I doubt if I'll drop any cash on another system.

You could easily convert WHFRP to a d20 system - perhaps not D&D, but certainly another d20 system.

For me, the WHFRP system was...okay, but it got a little clunky once the PCs got their strength, toughness and initiative above certain levels. However, in terms of atmosphere and quality, I loved the setting. The satisfyingly huge rulebook had loads of neat extras like plans of inns, farms, locks and toll-houses. Some of the careers and skills were utterly useless yet great fun. The Enemy Within campaign started out as a truly great series of adventures (although the last two installments were very disappointing). That other mini-campaign about four gems with elemental powers had some pretty cool moments too.

I'm wondering whether the new Warhammer RPG might be the perfect ruleset for FFG's wonderful Midnight setting. Anyone else?

I think D20 works well for Warhammer, as we're currently playing the D20 rules with the warhammer world as background.

Personally I think that the adventures for Warhammer (Shadows over Bögenhafen and Death on the Reik stand out - and yesterday I found out that Graeme Davis, who wrote them, is going to be writing the Eberron Open Call novel!) are the best that I've ever played, so a revival of Warhammer Fantasy is a great thing. Not for the core rules, which were good, but not as good as Earthdawn or D20, but for the great adventures.

I think D20 works well for Warhammer, as we're currently playing the D20 rules with the warhammer world as background.

I suggested this for a game because I thought it would be fun. I was going to create or borrow a critical hit system. nemmerle uses one that seems brutal in his story hour. And let er go. Nope, "we should play with the warhammer rules, they were so cool, and the game world had a good feel to it."

I tried to explain that all the other players were familiar with d20, and we could nix the allowance of classes and such that did not fit with the setting. You get to play in that world that you like. "Nope" I came up with other ideas and we game with them, but still read some of the books, especially the Slayer series.

A bit off-topic, but did the final WHFRP adventure, "Empire in Flames" ever get the promised rewrite? Apparently the ending was a bit lame and someone was going to rewrite it...
