Warlocks and PHB II feat tracks

First Post
Hiya,

I was looking at the quick creation chart for the Warlock in the PHB II and noticed that two of the feat tracks have the Warlock acquiring Quicken Spell-like Ability (Eldritch Blast).

The description for Eldritch Blast in Complete Arcane states that the effective spell level is Class level / 2. Meanwhile, the description of Quicken Spell-like Ability states that the maximum spell level that can be quickened is equal to (Caster Level/2) - 4.

Am I missing something? It appears that the warlock could never take this feat, unless the DM allowed him or her to cast a quickened version as if they were 8 class levels lower than they are.

Thoughts?

What you're missing is the Complete Arcane errata, which changes the warlock's Eldritch Blast to have a spell level of 1st when used unmodified, and that of the highest-level blast shape or eldritch essence invocation applied to it if used with one or more of those invocations.

This was done precisely in order to make Eldritch Blast eligible for the Metamagic Spell-Like Ability feats, which it was always intended to be compatible with.

EDIT: Darn, pipped to the post. :)

Thanks guys. The irony is that just before posting I checked the WotC site for any PHB II errata - I didn't think to check Complete Arcane.

I like the change though. Not only does it allow the use of Metamagic, but it also gives the blast invocations the added benefit of an increased spell level.
