D&D General Warlocks' patrons vs. Paladin Oaths and Cleric Deities

Yet for some reason it's not an issue for the thousands of PCs that receive the same training and same growth in abilities in exactly the same order. Why are NPCs different?
It is an issue! I hate it!

Edit: And also, there aren’t thousands of PCs. There are maybe 6?

How does a sorcerer lose his powers? A barbarian? A bard? A monk? You want to saddle classes with an off-switch to their power, saddle ALL of them with an off switch.
A Sorcerer's powers come from within, a Barbarian needs to Rage, a Bard needs performance, a Monk needs ki/focus, etc.

Also Wizards need their spellbooks, Druids need to revere nature, Artificers need their tools, etc.

If you're so vehemently opposed to the basic premise of a class then pick a different class.

No it's not. There is literally no difference in the fiction between an NPC and a PC, so treating them differently makes no sense. If it's bad for one to be treated like they are all the same by the thousands, it's also wrong for the other.
So? Just make up a reason in fiction why they are different. Or not, I don't care.

Don't think I can lose focus as a monk by eating a feast all day and I'm pretty sure you can be a Bard even if you're blinded, deaf and a quad amputee.

Also here's my character John, he's a Barlock. He uses the same emchanics as a warlock but it's because he was a scholar and graduated magic university,

If you can find a DM who's okay with that then go ahead.

Nobody's stopping you from making houserules.
