Warrior - Will Save

I paid like 70 silver to stable the damn thing for 2 months while we went on the godforsaken trek, I come back, pick it up and it dies like 20 minutes later.

Your DM sucks... First who wants to play a character the DM made? You should be able to at least make your own character even if he tells you it has to be a certain type/race. Next, you should be getting loot sometimes and a chance to buy new weapons. Just because you deal good damage doesnt mean the DM should nerf you every time you breath. The barbarian is supposed to deal lots of damage with weapons duh!..

I would get a new DM or at the least talk to em after a game alone and express your concerns. They are taking the fun out of the "game." Maybe have someone else in the group DM for a bit if you don't want to leave the group.

You can always get yourself killed so you can make a new character too. Go out with a blaze of glory and have fun with it I'd say. Try to tick off the DM if you can too to get back at em. hehehehe

We're all friends out of game and have been for ages. I agree I'd rather play my own characters. I agree that the cr rules and wealth guidelines exist for a reason. See 7th level character with boots of +10 wilderness survival and no weapon but a dagger for an example. (Oh, DM has complained the boots are too powerful also, and designed 2 encounters to destroy them. We circumvented the trap, but its still retarded.)

Buh...? Are you serious? "Look out monster baddies- I can't hurt you much with this little dagger, and my armor class sucks- in fact, I can't even track you without the feat- but, if I get lost in the forest I can SURVIVE MAGICALLY!"

That does not sound like a fun game, to me. Sheesh. Is your DM equally stingy with the whole group? If so, is everybody equally bored??

WHY do you not have the weapon you're specialized in? How would that even happen?

"Boy, I've spent much of my lifetime mastering the art of the sword, how to use its range and speed and weight to do damage. So, I think I'm going to use, as my main weapon, A DAGGER!"

It just doesn't make any sense.

I believe it happened like this:

PC: "Wow! Check out this weapon, and how specialized I am in it! See how awesome I am?"

World: "We see, and spend the next 10 combats making sunder attempts on your axe. One of them succeeds. You lose your axe. Also, no one sells axes, ever."

PC: "This sucks."

Use your character to kill the rest of the characters in your group, and then get yourself killed. Then roll-up new characters. That should do the trick!

I'm a bit stingy as a DM, currently handing out about 70% of the recommended wealth to the characters for campaign reasons, but your DM seems to have a totally different view of gear. I might break a character's main weapon in the course of an adventure, but surely it would be replaced in the next session by something they could use. And at that level, I'd expect a character to have at least 2 to 3 lesser magic items they can use.

Even if the DM has 15 years of experience, that doesn't mean he's all that familiar with how to run a 3e/3.5 campaign. When I switched over from 2e, it was a big learning experience, and there were many places where it seemed like the damage was high. However, I've since learned what to expect in the current game system, and understand why that damage needs to be there. It sounds like your DM hasn't come to that realization yet.

What's worse is the dude killed your horse. I only kill or steal horses when parties foolishly neglect them ("Hmm... There's a number of large predators in this area, but we'll only be away from them for half a day. Let's just let them graze in the wide open. What could go wrong?"). You paid to have your horse stabled for 2 months. You should be rewarded for that, not punished. That's a huge sign of a very bad DM, IMHO.

As for how to handle things...

It sounds like you are in other groups, and not having much fun here. Those are both strong signs you should leave this group. Personally, I'd try to get my character killed in some kind of spectacular blaze of glory fashion that will leave a lasting memory, and hopefully it will be in a situation that could have easily been prevented had you had the proper equipment and wealth of your level. :] Maybe, just maybe that will help wake up this DM to the error of his ways...but it probably won't given his horse episode.
