Way blocked by a Web spell

Ok.. the party is in a narrow tunnel (sewers in fact), 2 scrags (aquatic trolls) are coming, one on each side (of course :] ). The clever wizard cast a Web between them and one of the scrags, the effect is 20' radius, so the tunnel is blocked for 40'.

How, by the RAW the scrag (or any other creature armed with natural or normal weapons) can manage to "hack his way trough it" ?

Hmm, anytime this has come up someone has always just burnt the web. But I guess trolls, and especially ones that live in water, aren't likely to be carrying around a lit touch (Dark Vision) or flint, steel, and oil. ;)

Given that Attacking a creature in a web won’t cause you to become entangled at the very least attempting to cut them away shouldn't entangle the creature. Hmm, to base it at loosely on the rules you could have them make a DC 20 Strength check and for every 5 points above they rip out 5 feet. *shrug* Trying to remove the web is not the same as moving through it, but that is about as close as the text come unless you have a flaming weapon.

EDIT: By RAW the amount of web removed would be capped by the creature's reach (10' in your example) since you can't act/move/act.

Well, he's already loose of the web, so he can try to make his way through it. Doing so, I think, would fall under the following spell text:

Once loose (either by making the initial Reflex save or a later Strength check or Escape Artist check), a creature remains entangled, but may move through the web very slowly. Each round devoted to moving allows the creature to make a new Strength check or Escape Artist check. The creature moves 5 feet for each full 5 points by which the check result exceeds 10.

The scrag, then, will likely be making Strength checks to move through the web.

EDIT: Doh, you are suppose to subtract 10, not 20, to get through. Hmm, that means he needs only 3 successes (on a 25 or 26 he moves 15') not the 4 for ripping away the webs. Unless the scrag has been burned by webs before, that would be the way to go.

On average he'll make 5' a round. That's 8 rounds of pushing his way through the webs.

It could be as few as 3 rounds, however, if he rolls very well.

A house rule I've often seen for Web is to grant creatures a size bonus to the Strength checks to move through it equal to their Grapple size bonus.
