D&D 5E Weak monsters that terrify you

Oozes. We faced a black pudding. Fight wasn't too hard, but the fighter/barbarian had to take one of my extra weapons after.

Fought some hobgoblins today, and yeah, they hit hard!

I agree with all the above.

Also, depending on my memory and what we mean by Low CR I'd add two more to the list.

Flameskulls I think are CR 3 which is relatively low, but they get at least one fireball, maybe more I can't remember, a day. Plus a few other spels and if you don't know how to kill them they just keep coming back (They revive after an hour unless you sprinkle their remains with holy water)

Vampire Spawn. Vampires are of course evil, but a handful of their spawn nearly TPK'd a high level party of mine. Again, can't remember the exact CR, but the ability to heal damage allowed them to stick around and attrition the party down quick. Then again, setting might have had something to do with it. They were in a narrow staircase that the vamps could climb in but the spellcaster had to be very careful about friendly fire.

What are the "weakest" monsters in the book which nevertheless terrify you?

For me, Shadows are high on the list. Two 7th level characters against 10 shadows is officially not even a "Deadly" fight, but between high Stealth, bonus action Hide, good damage, strength drain, and undead conversion on kill (justifying hordes and hordes of them), plus a whole pile of resistances and immunities--you could not pay me enough to venture into a place where shadows are known to lurk in the company of only one other PC.

I'd rather take off and nuke the site from orbit--it's the only way to be sure.

What else have you got?

The 1st level ward/glyph of Bane (Charisma Saving Throw) that renders outright impossible the, already borderline impossible, Ghost's Charisma Saving Throw to possess me and make my puppeteered body (while I still perceive it all happening) fight my friends to the death!

Or, if "weak" doesn't have to mean CR, then sub "Ghost" for "innocuous jar".

That picture terrified me as a child.
