open up your DMG, go all the way to the back and look at the list of numbered tables. it will tell you where to find the wealth by level chart. i think someone already said it is chart 5-1, unless i remember incorrectly...

Waitaminnit...there's a wealth by level guideline somewhere?

I must've missed that day in class. Anyone take notes for me? :D

It's perhaps the only thing that actually appears TWICE in the same book :D

Post #7 in this thread? Yep, someone mentioned it....

When using Table 5-1: Character Wealth by Level (DMG, p. 135), I expect the PCs will have the suggested wealth total once they have attained level x.

However, considering I2K's experience, I'll guess his was just a sarcastic post. ;)

NPC table is different... or do you mean the PC table really appears twice?

If so, pages please?

Thanks, -- N

I'm using the npc wealth table to determine starting equipment for a pc who died and starts again on a level higher than 1. Only if there was a tpk I'd use the pc wealth table, because otherwise too much wealth accumulates from the dead pc's equipment.

Why so aggressive? :( It wasn't that important even if Imade a mistake...

However: pag. 43 and pag. 145 (3.0 DMG, don't know if it was removed in 3.5)

edit: if you have the 3.5 book, just for curiosity, check if they noticed and removed one of the two during revision.
The first is in Chapter 2: Characters ("Creating characters above 1st level", chart is named "Starting Equipment for PCs above 1st level").
The second is in Chapter 5: Campaigns ("Other campaign issues", chart is named "Character wealth by level").

It's the only table I'm aware of that is fully printed twice. :)

No aggression intended. It's just that that's the table which has caused me the most annoyance when trying to find it.

I only have 3.5e book, let me check...

The section in ch.6 / p.199 ("Characters -- creating characters above 1st level") references a table in ch.5 / p.135 ("Campaigns -- other campaign issues") for PCs, and another table in ch.4 / p.127 for NPCs.

So that's why I was surprised at your assertion. :)

Cheers, -- N
