Weapon of True Strike

Not that I would allow this IMC, but is there anything in the actual Item Creation rules that keeps someone from making a +1 longsword of True Strike?

The whole part about "any new item must be approved by the DM," or prehaps the "no item can give more than a +5 bonus of any type (except armor)" bits.

Ah, I forgot about the +5 thing. I suppose that would apply. That's what I was wondering, thanks.

I would say it depends on what exactly the spell is doing, there is a bow in Sword in Fist that allows the user to activate True Strike (like a wand). This means you'd be using it at most 1 time every other round (without haste). It also means you'd need to have true strike on your caster list.

There is nothing in the mechanics that actually prevents this, other than there is no "True Striking" enhancement for weapons in any 'official' source material, that I can think of.

IMC, this has been kicked around once or twice, and each time I've shot it down. I'm not going anywhere near a weapon that does this all the time until we get to Epic levels. Even then, I'm really gonna be leery of even discussing the topic... :D

The weapon you suggested would have +21 to hit and a +1 to damage... as long as the "True Striking" was continuous.

"I'd buy that for a DOLLAR!!!" :D

a sword of true strike is possible but it's the gm who should make the final decision for game balance

i was allowed to make a longbow of true strike but the effect was limited to a single charge a day. the gm came up with the reason that if the weapon had more than a single charge a day, the power from the bow when activated would stun the user, which i was quite happy with as was the other player i made it for

Where is that from? Kinda contradicts +6 ability boosting items, doesn't it?

Yes, the fact that by default players don't get to invent "new items". The new-item-pricing rules are in the DMG for use only by the DM for new items he inserts into his campaign.
