Weird Al

Too cool Umbran.

And while costume changes are awesome, what impresses me the most is the make-up in between costume changes. Clothes are easy, latex and foam prosthetics are not, the chin appliance alone would be enough to derail most people and he and his crew get it on, in place and secured, and then covered with concealing make-up in way too fast a time. I would love to be backstage just to see that.

I remember watching a "Behind the Music" where one of the guys from Devo said that when he first heard "Dare to Be Stupid", he was gobsmacked because Al had managed to capture everything Devo was striving to be about in a song that was a parody of Devo, and he kind of hated Al for it.

Ah, you see, there's a trick to that. Note how Al himself no longer wears glasses, but thick black-rimmed glasses are part of the costume for that number.

The chin appliance hangs off the glasses, so most of the edge is concealed by the rims and his hair! They only have to worry about the edges around his mouth.

Very nice, but, spirit gum is still nothing easy to get right under pressure and time. I still applaud his make-up guru. I'll have to go back and examine the glasses/appliance thing closer. I may be able to use that to advantage someday during Halloween.
