Weird problem with Word. (What happened to the friggen buttons?)

No one knows how it happened. No one admits to being there when it happened. No one did it. And no one knows how to fix it.

(See Attached Image): Normal methods of opening a drop down menu don't work (Alt+F). The toolbars (all of them) are gone. Toolbars are non-existant. Other shortcut keys still function (Ctr+P, Ctr+S).

Even clicking on the "Show Picture Toolbar" option (when right-clicking on an image) fails to produce.

We've tried:

  • Right-clicking every concievable serfcace.
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling. The settings remain the same.
  • Dropping in random objects and Right-Clicking on them.
  • Banging head on desk.

None of it worked. Anyone got any ideas?

Here's something to try:

1. close down Word.
2. click on the 'Start' button then click on the 'Run' option.
3. type: winword.exe /a then press Enter.
4. click OK to accept your username and initials (or alter them).
5. See Word with menu and toolbars.

Using the /a resets your Word settings, thus restoring your lost toolbar. This should solve your problem. Good luck!
