Weirdest Place You've Gotten Inspiration

in my math finals at school. Hat absolutly nothing to do with the test itself but somehow I cam up with a whole demonic invasion. Maybe, I just wished for it at the moment...

Man, I get ideas from everywhere. Toys, comics, books, the news, the intarweb, songs, features of the natural world... the weirdest? That's hard to say. Maybe from porn? And no, I don't own the BoEF. :)

I get numerous ideas from movies, comics, songs, TV, Books etc but one idea recently came to me from a very unusual source - promise not to laugh? - the new double mint twins commercial. Don't ask - even I can't explain it.

Denver International Airport at 4:25 AM I got some sudden ideas for a game, but I was also trying to keep myself awake at the time.

Then there was the time that I was struck by inspiration in the middle of Easter services when I was visiting my family and went to church with them. And, given the topic of my campaign/storyhour, well, Christ appreciates irony apparently. :D

In the backseat of my car in the parks parking lot with a chick.

In the liquor store while it was being held up.

At the club on a Friday night while flirting with 2 girls.

In the emergency room while my sister gave birth to her first child.

On the can with a bad case of.....

...well I DM Planescape.

I can find inspiration in just about anything. Different noises make me think of different things. The best place I have gotten inspiration would have to be after I got my wisdom teeth pulled and was high on the stuff they used to put me under. I guess I was telling crazy stories in the dentist office after I had it done (this was told to me by my mother). So I decided to base a few adventures on a bad guy who drove people insane through torture (drilling and drugs no less).

One of my favorite (and my player's favorite) adventures.

I used to always get ideas from dreams. My roomate was one of my players and it weirded him out that I would wake up, announce "I've got it!" then start writing the adventure from what I dreamed. My dreams (more then than now) had plots and stories and characters and even sometimes morals at the end. Good ol' dreams.

I don't know when or where I'll get an idea. I've started keeping a notebook in my pocket and a pen to jot down any ideas that come along.

Have you ever read "From Hell," Alan Moore's graphic novel on Jack-the-Ripper? He weaves in lots of Masonic weirdness. I'd love to hear more details about that statue.
