The Glen
Legend
I started this video series back in May trying to increase interest in one of the oldest settings, Mystara. It didn't get a lot of love from TSR back in the day, despite being the setting for the B/X or BECMI rules. The setting was filled with continuity errors, and the quality of the source books varied from masterpiece to afterthought.
Almost all the nations are a fantasy version of a historical nation, though some of the geographic placements are a little forced (You've got Mongolia next to Sweden, which is north of Arabia). But a large part of the charm is that the nations are recognizable to anyone who is just getting into the game. Want to play a Roman? You're Thyatian. Scottish, French or Dutch? You're from Glantri. Maori? Ierendi. Romanian? Karameikos. Throw in several demihuman kingdoms and you've got a largely unexplored land with a focus on colonization and exploration.
So if anybody is interested in learning about one of the most classic settings in D&D, please check out the channel. It starts off rough, but gets better as I learned what I was doing.
