Well, I did it, got an iPad!

Hand of Evil

Hero
Epic
We have been reviewing them for work and it has been growning on me, so off I went and picked up one! Still love my Kindle but seeing the iPad as my GM aid and laptop replacement.

So, what apps do I need to be on the look out for?

So, what apps do I need to be on the look out for?

Game-wise, I use Pages for word processing and iBooks for accessing PDFs. There are d20/SRD apps like d20 Rules that come in handy. I also use Penultimate for quick sketches. I use LimeChat to access IRC chats. MachDice is a nice die rolling app. For simplified interfaces you can use apps like Tapatalk for EN World boards or Simplepedia for wiki.

When I bought my Itouch got the following gaming apps for it.

monsterlist
d20 Rules
Pocket Dice
I4e
Spellbook

When I got my Ipad they transfered over.
since then I got PDF Reader app. I also here Goodreader is a great one also.
I'm also looking for a good picture transfer app like Photo Transfer.

check out the apps list on this site. Great place to start.

In additon to gaming-centric apps, I'm digging EverNote as a way of getting content onto the iPad.

I use one notebook for recipies (iPad makes a great kitchen cookbook. Touchscreen still works when you zip it into a 1gal Ziplock bag to protect it from splashes/spills) and another for gaming info, copy/pasting monster stat blocks I plan to use, quick-reference sheets & house rules.

So how has your experience been in the iPad as far as RPGs go? Have you had a chance to read Dragon/Dungeon magazines on it?

I'm gearing up to buy an iPad myself and looking for all the info I can get. Are you still a happy camper?

Thanks :)

Have not yet read Dragon/Dungeon on it. Give it a mixed review, overall I like it, love some of the apps for RPG, DM Tool kit is a great and also I use an app called Index Cards (just what it says). Have to seach for the best for your needs but RPG seem to be getting a good amount of support.

Some of what I don't like, no multi-tasking, only one app open at a time! From what I hear this should change in the next OS release.
