Well. Our Gas company gave us a nice trick this Halloween

Well, this will turn into a little bit of a rant.

It's in the High 50's here in Boonville MO and dropping.

About dinner time, actually. Trick & treaters should be showing up any time now.

Sure would be nice if we had Hot Water or Heat.

Yep, sure would be nice.

It seems our Gas Company (AmerenUE) was doing some Pipe-line work today. Multiple big holes in our yard.

Seems they had to turn off the Natural Gas into the House.

And, as once you turn the Gas off, you can't just turn it back on, as you'd then have Gas leaks.

It was nice of AmerenUE to let us know.....

Oh. Wait. AmerenUE FORGOT!!!!!!! to tell us they'd be ripping up our yard. As no one was home when they got done, they left a little note telling how we'd have to contact them to set up a time to turn the gas back.....

Oh, wait. They gave us the WRONG NOTE!!!!! Ours was about possible Sewage Problems.

In fact. If I hadn't of noticed the massive amount of upturned sod in the front yard, and the fact that our Furnace has been powering up for an hour & a half, I'd still not know the Gas was off.

In fact, I had to call up the Gas Company & TELL THEM! our gas was off (Seems somebody forgot to put a note in the system our house had no Gas).

We are now forced to sit here waiting for a service man to visit sometime between now and, um, whenever he feels like showing up.

Nice trick AmerenUE.

Not as good as when your tried to blow up the town (Nothing like sitting at work & hearing how the Town's burning down & the Police have blocked all entrances in & out of town.

Nor is it as good as flooding an entire town . (At least that wasn't us).

Oh, and I like how you sent a little note about 2 weeks after that fiasco bout how our rates were going up. You know, due to the rising prices, expanding systems & no mention how you had an agent set his butt at our courthouse for 3 days accepting all the reciepts for damages due to hooking up the Wrong Trunk line to our city's low pressure system. Or all the fines, lawsuits, and repairs involved with that whole dam break thing.

So, to sum up.

We'll be dressed up as Eskimos to hand out candy to the kids coming to our door this year.

Looking on the bright side- the candy won't melt.

Tough luck. I hope they compansate you for your troubles somehow. But if they are like our energy company they will only smile and whistle as they turn away (too count our money).

sigh.... ain't life grand.

Happy Halloween

Gas back on.

5:00 1st Service Call: "Somebody will be out at some point. Will you be home the rest of the day?"

6:30 2nd Service Call: "Ummm... No we show no record of your gas being out. We do have a call recorded in our system, but no Service ticket was logged. So what is your problem again?" (Not Grandma Friendly stuff). "We'll have someone out right away!"

6:35 Truck pulls up. The guy was very nice. Gas company uses Sub-Contractors to dig the holes. And, as the Gas Company talks about how good their OWN work force is.... They sub out to the Lowest Bidder. It seems they have a VERY bad habit of not bothering to tell the Gas Company when they shut someone's service off.

We have heat now. And I got to bitch out a Customer Service rep (Or more specifically, I got to bitch out the BLEEP, BLEEP I talked to the first time, that took my info & just hung up the phone).

Vraille, why is it that the most crazy posts come from your OPs? Seriously, you're a man of a thousand terrible stories.

In any case, Happy Hallowe'en; glad to hear that you got heat again :)

cheers,

Well Peoples Energy shut our gas lines off for owing them a Past-Due amount of about $50.00. Yea, they came by and turned it off, but since we didn't have an access point they tore up the yard dug about 6 feet down and turned it off at the street. So we were without gas for nearly 2 weeks. No hot showers, no gas range, and no hot water for dishes. That was alot of fun..
