Got a PC who wants his ranger to be a werewolf. Anyone know the rules for doing this? All the stats increase and such. Also if anyone else players with this type of PC how do you handle the shape changing? Can they make a will save not to change? How do you keep tract of the moon phases?

It's in the MM, page 217, why not read it?

One of my PC's (a ranger, in fact) was infected with lycanthropy by a werewolf. At first, she was happy about it, due to the increased stats and combat ability in hybrid form. However, once I informed her that she is CE when transformed (MM 219), she quickly opted to get cured. The rules in the MM handle the situation well, but that alignment change makes werewolf a toughie for most PC's.

Because there, jerky, I don't have the MM. The current
DM that is putting us through the temple of elemental
evil has it. I was hoping someone would be nice enough
to post it here for all of us to read tough guy.LOL

Hmmm....sounds like a nice twist. Maybe I won't tell him about that till after he is infected. ( evil DM grin ).

Most people don't have the time to completely retype the rules when it's already so nicely done in a published (and copyrighted) book.

Why not just ask your DM to borrow the MM, or, if you feel like supporting WotC go buy a copy for yourself and read at your leisure (especially since you sound like you're DMing too)

System Reference Document

Scan down for Lycanthropy. The templates are in alphabetical order so it's just after Lich.

Includes ability adjustments and alignment shifts. Werebear (good) or Weretiger (neutral) might work better but both have significantly higher strength and hence ECL.

Check Soldarin's ECL Calculator for tips both on running ECL PC's, and for finding a good estimate of what level equivalent a lycanthrope is.

Not only that, the first time she changes form voluntarily to animal/hybrid her alignment changes permanently to that of the template.
That's why their alignment is said to be "always".

Calm down, I assumed you knew about the SRD, and that you cannot just quote the MM at your leasure (it's copyrighted, you know).
