Beyond Lockwood and Sam Wood I would add Foster and Martin. Although in Lockwoods case most of his art that I dont like is stuff that he didnt do himself (like the pieces showing Alhandra and Soveliss in the PHB).

As for Easley, he's one of my alltime fave TSR artists. Although I havent seen much of his 3e art. Only whats in the PHB and Sword & Fist (after that I didnt buy another splat-book).

Well, I'd say Easley, but the only thing I really see his bad paintings on is the DM Screen. So that's not so bad.

The 3e artist that I find to be the weakest link is (I think) David Martin. I say "I think" because all I see is 'DM' written in the bottom of his drawings. So I assume that means David Martin. But he's not listed as one of your choices.

Here are some reasons why I don't like David Martin.

-the Paladin on Pg. 41 (PHB)
-the Ranger, Pg. 44 (PHB)
-the Wizard, Pg. 52 (PHB)
-the animate dead picture on Pg. 174 (PHB)
-the fantastic rendition of being ethereal on Pg. 201 (PHB)

most of his pictures in the spells section reminds me of some of the left over art from the 2e books.

Thanks for listing who's who -- that helped. I don't find anyone appalling though I do think Easley's 3E covers ... how shall I say it ... have not been his best work.

Cramer followed by Roach. Neither have a very good grasp of basic anatomy and their art does suffer for it.

granted this is coming from someone who couldn't draw his way out of a wet paper bag...

Scott Fischer. His proportions are wonky. He tends to do everything in that pinkish color. While his art is good, it's just not for me. Definitely.

My favorite is WAR, but he can't draw feet. I don't know why, but all of his feet are warped and look like they were hacked off a camel. :D

This is a hard poll, I don't generally like the style and look of the new books artwork but I cannot truely say any of the artists are bad, although they have their ups and downs.

Whoever it is that was responsible for that darned ugly Blackguard.

Yeesh.

Oh yeah, and that stinkin' troll too.

On a more positive note I have been enjoying the artwork of Jason A. Engle. He has been appearing in recent issues of Dragon and Dungeon. I espically like the troll he did for Dungeon #89 - Rage.

I've gotta agree - that blackguard

And the troll too - wouldn't it bite its own nose off every time it tried to eat something? (though I guess it would just regen it back...)

I find Roach, followed by Wood, don't do much for me, but among artists in WotC products I don't see much of, I didn't go for H. Hudson (especially PsiHandbook p.28), the AR guy (Adam Rex?) who did monsters like the Grimlock (MM p.114) and whoever did the OA illustrations on p.34 and 55 as well as 231.

I personally prefer Lockwood, Cavotta, and W.A.R. (who I found hard to get into; his anatomy and posture is sometimes odd but I've come to like his use of colour and texture).

I'm blown away thet Easley is winning or losing rather. His covers are fantastic. I'm specifically talking about the 1E stuff. Look at the DM's Guide, Players Hanbook, Unearthed Arcana or Monsters Manual. They completely rock.
