There was a special on either the Discovery Channel or TLC awhile back about these things...it's all just a couple of guys from England or Scotland one who do these during the night, they showed how they did it, and they did a demonstration using Time Lapse video photography whatever is, and sure enough it was possible for a few guys to make these huge designs in just a few hours...
Sorry if I ruined it for any of you out there who actually though it was done by aliens or something!

It has been theorizied that plasma is the cause, or ball lightning; in fact scientists in Japan recently created a small ball of plasma and noted that when it hit the ground it left marks remarkably similar to those found in crop circles.

There is a rumor on some of the paranormal news sites that Disney , or whatever film company is producing it, has hired people to make an increasing amount of crop circles around the world to promote the movie Signs.

Yeah, the two guys in England can't possibly being doing the circles that have appeared in other countries. I saw a special on either TLC or Discovery that said back in the mid-80s and early 90s, an average of 3 crop circles were formed each night worldwide.
I think a lot of the circles are hoaxes, especially the ones in later years. But originally, there was another cause which inspired the hoaxers.
The same special had video of two occasions when a crop circle was formed by balls of light -- possibly plasma balls. One video, after analysis, looked like it might be a fake. The other one seemed to be legit.
They also interviewed an older man who said that, as a young boy during World War II, he saw a crop circle form in a field right before his eyes, and his description of what happened supports the plasma ball theory as well.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.
There is a means by which crop circles can appear by means of totally mundane means.
Thererefore, I'm not willing to accept aliens or ball lightning or plasma without a more solid explanation of the mechanism.
The fact that crop circles have exclusively regional styles, that grow and evolve locally before disappearing, says to me that the vast majority are built by human hand.

In test the guys where unable to produce complex circles during an overnight period. While it is possible that they are man-made no one has been seen doing it during monitoring.

Well, if I were an alien who wanted to hang around earth for 50 years or so, I wouldn't bother to actually talk to earthlings either. I would just make crop circles. If those stupid gits couldn't figure out what I was trying to tell them, then I would eventually get annoyed and vaporize the whole darn planet.

There is suppose to be a cash reward (big bucks) for any one that recreate them, no one has been able to collect.
Also fields have been monitored and have shown no activity yet the cicles get formed.
