Been browsing through a friends WH40K books and novels. What sort of adventures would you want for a WH40K game?

(No Aliens rip off... )

Sorry if it is an alien rip off, but any of the Space Hulk scenarios would make pretty cool adventures. Aahh... just give me my terminator armor and a stormbolter. :D

Probably anything you could find in d20 Modern or any war.sci-fi movie. Things like recon, sabatoge, rescue, kidnapping, blow up the power generator, defend the settlement, etc. etc. find a movie make a module out of it.

You could probably make many straight from teh 40K novels and anthologies now that I think about it.

It would depend a lot on the characters. A group of Space Marines would have very different adventures to a bunch of Orcs. (Not really, they'd both be mainly 'shoot everything that moves', but you get the idea.)

Geoff.

something necromunda ish would be good. or the characters could be members of the inquisition, looking for rogue psykers.

Destroying a genestealer cult, deposing a mad planetary lord, investigating reports of eldar pirates, stealth missions for the Imperial Guard and space marines... The possibilities are endless.

And by the way, what rules are you using for a WH40K RPG?

One thing about GW is both Warhammer worlds have great backgrounds. I loved playing Warhammer Fantasy RP (though don't play it anymore...then again only doing a few PbEM games now) and still love playing 40K (now that my 'Nid, Deathwing, and Black Legion armies are all complete). :D

I've been toying with this idea for some years now.
The party, preferably a group of space marine scouts or at least allied somewhere with a chapter, is sent to a remote planet on a scouting mission. Turns out there has been a war a few centuries back that left all the cities devastated, with a few chaos cults still in place, and maybe the odd survivor community. (Think Mad Max)
You could work out a few adventures around this, culmination should be that the cultists have decided to eradicate all non-believers and PC's and their allies among the natives are under heavy fire.
Somewhere along the road, PC's discover the remains of an ancient Space Marine Dreadnought. In itself a great relic, but under the circumstances, it might just save their lives and turn the tide.
Fun part now would to see if the space Marine inside is still functional or does the metal housing need a new spirit? Maybe it's tainted by chaos. Maybe the taint will only slowly manifest upon return to the chapter,...
