So, for those that liked the Birthright setting what do you think of the fan based attempt at conversion to 3E (and now 3.5E)?
I appreciate the work folks have put into the conversion but have some reservations with the results so far. After reading the playtest document I found some things . . . lacking
I'm not sure which implementation of creating a Blooded character I prefer. I don't reall like ECL modifiers, I think a feat based system would work better for attaining tainted/minor/major/great bloodlines. IMO the blood abilities are really all over the board now, and would really have benefitted from an attempt to balance the powers against one another. I've completely rewritten the Usurpation and Bloodline Corruption rules. I am in the process of linking magic item creation to Blood ability score. The section on races is true to the original, but with all the special benefits the non-humans get, the extra feat and skill points humans get really don't stand up.
Still I like the setting and I'm DMing a group in it right now. I'll have to see how things progress.
