I wouldn't do anything with beer. Despite the popularity of beer and pretzal games (which is pretty much any game with some folks...), beer isn't the beverage of choice with D&D players. Heck, even Mt. Dew has its rivals.

I don't, simply because I don't like beer (or most alcohol, really).

As far as having beer at games... I don't mind if one of my players wants to knock back a cold one or two over the course of the game. But, the first time someone actually gets drunk at one of my games will damn sure be the last.

Not that this isn't a complete tangent (caused by an overly earnest, seemingly puritanical, reply to what was obviously a light-hearted remark on my part), but I can't let unjustified claims pass without criticizing them...

Oh? I would be interested in looking at the data on which this sweeping assertion is based.

I've been involved in three different gaming groups over the past five years (one in Canada, two in the U.S.). Moderate and occasional beer consumption was enjoyed in every group (sure, not in every session, and not very many beers at any given time, but it was certainly a pleasant addition to many of our games). One of the players in my current group brews his own beer, and sometimes brings a few bottles for us to sample during our sessions.

I wouldn't be surprised if many 30-something players enjoy a pint or two during their gaming sessions nowadays.

All right, I am leaving this tangent now... (I need a beer :D ...)

Mt. Dew isn't even the drink of choice up here, since it doesn't have caffeine... non-cola drinks aren't allowed to have caffeine in them, by Canadian food standards. Barq's rootbeer barely qualifies. heh.

Like mead... good ole' 13% alcohol mead. MmmmmMmmmmm ;)

Down here in Uruguay we have "grappamiel" which is basically mead, but its 26% alcohol.

My 6-person RPG group just finished a night's gaming where between the lot of us we downed two bottles of the stuff.
Weren't playing D&D, 1st or 3rd ed, though. Tonight, it was Feng Shui.
