What do you use to manage your website?

No Trouble at All
My campaign website has always been hand-build with HTML. This is fine as I'm comfortable with basic HTML work, though I have not made use of ASP much. As the site gets larger it becomes harder to keep it organized and looking good.

I'm interested in what people use for their content management on their website. I see that sites such as Dusk have a very professional look that seems to be all ASP driven (or some similar technology), for instance.

I'm downloading CityDesk now for a trial (www.fogcreek.com) which will support 50 pages as free download, which I figure will at least give me a feel for it.

Opinions? Thoughts?

I have Adobe GoLive and really like it. It is expensive, but I like to tinker and have zero programming skills, so it was worth it.

I'm looking into coldfusion for my work. It's pretty neat, and you can get a fully functional 30 day demo from macromedia.

I've gone through phpnuke (for a week) and PostNuke (for a year and a half), and now I'm part of the development team for Xaraya. An almost total rewrite of postnuke by the original PN team.

Really, it depends on what you want. I suggest PN or Xaraya over phpnuke because phpnuke requires you to hack at your core to load various modules, which inevitably gets you into trouble. All these systems are nice because they allow you to get more into the content of your site, rather than spending time with the layout and look of each individual page. They also give you the opportunity to create a community, though it's definitely not a necessary thing to do. And chances are you'll find more servers out there that will host PHP than ASP and ColdFusion combined.

For site design I rely on Dreamweaver. Smaller updates/edits I'll do directly using CuteFTP.

I might have a look at using FLASH but first I got to get to grips woth XML/XSL.
