Some interesting ideas although I can do without the stats to the cartoon characters, I always thought it to be much to infantile. I also grew tired of Elmore (and Easley) long, LONG ago.

Walks down memory lane? Save it for the editorial page. Speaking as someone who has every single issue of the magazine except one (most of them in CD-ROM format) I really don't need more space devoted to something I might only read once and more than likely will not read at all.

Sage advice we can live without for one issue.

Stats for Mord, Bigsby, Evard, Tenser? Now we're talking. In fact, don't just give us stats give us a nice long article on their history and personalities.

Ecology of the Githyanki - Because we can never have enough Githyanki goodness.

Ecology of the Rakshasa - Because we can never have enough Rakshasa goodness (or badness).

Actually forget all that. Just give us Fiendish Codex III: Yugoloths. Have the entire issue devoted to the missing third faction of the lower planes.

Um, yeah, your on a whole other world from me. Sure the cartoon kids are bratty and it is kiddish, but it is also history, like the magazine will soon be. (Anyway, all I really cared about was Venger's stats)

Larry Elmore, are you kidding, how can you ever grow tired of that? Hell, I just talked to that man, maybe I am biased, but he made AD&D and D&D what they are visually. No matter how tired of him you are, you can't take that away from him. Plus, he never once drew anything in Animie style. NO ANIMIE EVER IN A DRAGON OR DUNGEON MAGAZINE PLEASE, THAT IS NOT FANTASY!!!

As for the cover iteslf, I too would not like to see anything on the cover other than the word Dragon and the art. Erik Mona got it wrong when he said you have to write all over the cover to sell it.

I could do without Sage Advice if the Sage stops talking in the third person in the July Issue, oops, too late.

Personally I think the Githyanki & Rakshasa have had enough time in the spot light. Heck, the Gith had a whole dragon and dungeon issue to themselves. What more can you write? The Dragon Truce is ended, watch out???!!!! :D :p

How about the ecology of the gamer, wait, they did that, how about ecology of the power gamer, wait they did that too. How about ecology of a bad choice by WOTC to take away what the fans really want! That would be great!!! :) ;)

I want to see stats for Orcus and Graz'zt.

I want to see the Hierarch Modrons updated to 3.5e as a Web Enhancement for #359 (since I know they won't put it in the magazine itself).

Yeah, because the style that something is drawn in determines the genre.
That and the fact that there are no sword and sorcery anime.

No, wait there are. BERSERK. RECORD OF LODOSS WAR. SLAYERS. etc.

Also, while you obviously love Elmore there are those that would consider his style too cartoony for fantasy as opposed to Boris Vellejo and Frank Frazetta. So watch it with the broad definitive statements about what is and isnt fantasy.

No, I will not make any apologies for my statements. If you want to consider Animie fantasy by your standards, then you go right ahead.

However, 99% of the D&D fans that played before the year 2000 grew up with Larry Elmore defining the face of fantasy and D&D and you can't take that away from him. He single handedly set the tone and style for the Dragonlance world and shaped how we look at D&D from his Dragon covers. Dragons look the way they do today because of him and he is far from "cartoony". Sure he has things like Snarf, but you can't really find another artist that draws humans in realistic proportions and photo like quality anymore. Not like he does. Cartoony? Are you even looking at the same thing?

Animie is not D&D. Animie may have done fantasy films and may have been used in low end role-playing aids, but it is not what most people think of when they think of D&D or fantasy. Animie belongs in a Japanize film festival, not in a Dragon or Dungeon magazine. I like animie in movies, but if they, say, make the Dragonlance movie done in an Animie style, that will suck balls because that is not D&D fantasy and not the Dragonlance style.

You can say what you want, but Animie has no place in D&D fantasy.
