What does Nerf(ed) mean?

that's funny. i thought it was a combination of the above. a styrofoam toy whose acronym stands for Not Even Real Felt. as in cool, floppy hats.

Unless you were us. We soaked our old NERF footballs in water and threw them as hard as we could at each others bare arms and legs. In that case they left big red marks and hurt like, well you know :D.

It predates that, as I know one friend was using it to describe changes made in Ultima Online prior to EQ's release. As I've heard it, his posts to RGCUO are the origin of the current term.
 


wow... three posts up, the user "2d6" had, at the time i posted this, a postcount of 12, its max roll. Cool.
 


I remember the term "nerfed" being used in the same way back about 13 years ago when I was heavily into MUDs. I've seen it went its way back into things over the last few years, though ;)
