I DM probably more than I played since it game out, but I've played several PCs. And enjoyed them all. My enjoyment comes from other factors besides mechanical builds. It's a social engagement first, I'm with friends, I enjoy role-playing which isn't class dependent at all, etc. None of the classes felt like they are broken or unnplayable, and they all have their role, so I enjoyed almost all equally. I do have some memories that are fonder than others, but that was because of the scenario in the game, not so much the subclass I happened to be playing.

I left out the characters I played in one shots or only a couple sessions before the campaign broke off. While I had fun with them, that isn't really enough time to get to know those characters.

I'm surprised that knowledge cleric is currently ranked as high as it is. Currently beating out Light, War and Trickery which I would have thought would be more appealing concepts. Also given that the knowledge cleric's main shtick is that it's an intelligence learning subclass and there are a lot of posts about how intelligence is useless around here. Still I quite had fun with it and enjoyed being a skill monkey cleric.

Not at all surprised to see devotion paladin at the back of the pack for paladin subclasses. It's mechanically the most underwhelming given that most of it's abilities are extremely situational. But I have found that when the situation they do apply in comes up you are a power house. We recently went through a long dungeon involving primarily undead and we didn't have a cleric. My channel divinity to turn undead saved the party a few times!

And finally with the divination wizard I am again not surprised at the results making it the most popular out of the wizard options. I mostly chose it as mechanically it was the closest to a generalist wizard and I was not disappointed. Portent is quite the ability making for some very memorable power plays throughout that character's career.

Yeah, I'm not surprised. Divination is the one subclass that would get me interested in playing a Wizard. I'm not big on playing Full Casters but Portent is a great support option!

I've played a lot, but the thing that sticks out to me the most are Warlocks. They are my favorite class. Their story, character options, mechanics, and overall design makes me have a very good time with all of them, and I have played every option other than Celestial & GOO (which are next on my list). They are the one class I could probably play forever and never get bored.

The current most popular classes (alphabetical order) :

Lore Bard
Moon Druid
Battlemaster Fighter
Oath of the Ancient Paladin
Archfey Warlock

Makes for a neat party.

The current least popular classes (with 2 votes each):

Nature Cleric
Trickery Cleric
4 Elements Monk
Conjuration Wizard
Illusion Wizard

Surprised by the Illusion Wizard, I thought Illusionists were a favorite of a lot of people. Berserker currently sits at 3 FYI.

I want to like the illusionist. But really, you can pretty much do everything as a regular wizard and more (that other wizard's specialization). I think if they made illusions more potent for the illusionist, more people might play them. You don't use illusions all that often, so a regular wizard is pretty much the same in practical effect

My votes are up. I've also played (and am currently playing) a Hexblade warlock and a Fey Magic sorcerer, and they are hands-down my favorite characters.

Are the features of the Illusionist too weak? I feel like the one that lets you make illusions real for a short time is pretty neat... walking across a bridge and then seeing enemies plummet through it because it's just an illusion is some Looney Tunes shenanigans right there... but it also comes in super late so I dunno.

Malleable Illusion seems pretty lackluster
