What have you played?

Which non-PHB class have you played?

I dm prolly over 90% of the time. That said, I do have a knight that I'm playing- and it's a great class! It's one of the only new base classes that I'll allow imc, no questions asked. :)

I have played an aristocrat, which was actually quite fun.

I also played a scout, and he died a less than glorious death in his very first session from being used as a living piece of fishing bait. Whoops!

Healers are my favorite class, even if everyone at my table refers to it as the "DM's Girlfreind Class." The joke being that she's only going to show up for one session, so you hand her the 'easy to use' class that gets the 'pretty unicorn.'

Then I played one, saved everyones bacon, a lot, and got to introduce them to my cohort the angry, angry Couatl.

Currently playing a scout.
Really surprised about the large number of Psions so far. I would have thought with some of the other threads around here it would be way less.

How was the Hexblade?

The word on the street is that they're underpowered, and, I will admit, the hexblade's curse ability could use a bit more of a boon. I think there was a Class Acts in Dragon a couple months back that did just that with some spiffy hexblade feats. This was, of course, after I had finished my run with the class.

I played my hexblade as an out-of-luck gambler with a magical knack that would kick in at unexpected times to either increase or decrease his favor. In his second ever combat encounter (as a 1st level hexblade), he scored a critical hit and rolled max damage with his trusty rapier. The other PCs were immediately convinced of his ability to manipulate fortune, and it ended up being a blast to roleplay.

However, as I hadn't been playing D&D for more than a year at this time, I can't accurately judge the balance of the class, but, in my experience, it was a really fun experience.

Not many other incarnum fans in these parts, I see.

Currently running an Archivist in a PBP (she's a lot of fun). Also a Soulknife in PBP (not quite as involved of a game). I've run a psion, artificer, and scout on tabletop. I wanted to run a beguiler, but my DM nixed it because he thought it was too much better than an enchantment-focused sorcerer. And as my current tabletop PC is statue right now (he got turned to stone), I'm throwing together a Dragonfire Adept for a backup character.

I guess that's saying I really like new base classes...

Of the about 6 I checked off Scout has been my favorite. It combines the stuff I like about rogues and rangers yet feels new and different. I like it.

Of the ones I tried and dislike the most it may be Incarnum. A lot to look over and keep track over yet has little that is really different about it in feel. Maybe just me.

I've played a psion, psychic warrior, and warlock. I think the warlock was my favorite of these to play; the small number of at-will utility powers made for interesting problem solving. I think I came up with more uses for shatter in that game than I ever would of imagined before playing a warlock.

When I first started playing, I stuck with the core classes, specifically the barbarian, rogue, cleric, and wizard. It is only more recently that I have decided to try out a few newer classes--a soulknife in an Eberron campaign, a shugenja in a Rokugan game. I also very briefly had a dread necromancer character, which I didn't remember to check off when I voted, since the game lasted a whole three hours before its demise.

More recently I have also found myself as DM in the groups I play with, however, so there hasn't been much opportunity for me to try out many classes I'd like to. I do have an artificer DMPC in the game I'm currently running, though, and I love him.
