Which is great, provided that path tells the story you want to tell. But if it doesn't, or if you (like me) already have lots of story ideas and just need adventures to fit into 'em, then what?
This is why I hope to find in commercial adventures maps and NPCs and that the story be mostly left to me and the players to handle. Getting an NPC storyline gives you good ideas of how things might be working out but allows for a very easy customization of the module to fit my taste.
