What is the original source for this awesome Lockwood painting?

Nope. In fact, I don't think any of the iconic characters are included in that picture.

Well, that human in armor could be Regdar, but it's hard to tell from the angle.
The fighter's definitely Regdar...but interestingly enough, he's the only Iconic on there.

Best:
...orc ever!
...bugbear ever!
...hobgoblin ever!
...drow male ever!
...blonde wizard with great abs ever!
...Teflon Billy ever!
...non-Gimli dwarf ever!
...beholder ever!
...1e homage ever!

And the map is divided into squares! These adventurers are SUCH wargamers! :)

That outfit, mostly the bottom half, reminds me of one of the sorcerer concept sketches that was on the countdown to 3E website. It never got used in the books AFAIK. I guess he finally used it.

The sorceress is definitely used in the book. In the spell section, you have several sketch of her. Look at gate and mirror image. The hair is not the same, though; she's now blonde and with thin locks. Probably went to the hairstylist.

Hey! Have you noticed the spiral tattoo on the bugbear who got the teeth kicked out of him? Ain't it Tharizdun's symbol?
