What is your favorite prestige class? (Added results so far)

Thematically, I prefer PrCs that have some ties to the campaign you're playing. That said, like Yeoman, the Shadowdancer is my favorite.

Hey Gospog, I love Cthulhu-inspired adventures myself and I've created a couple of "Far Realm" inspired PrCs you might like (one Wizard-based, one Ranger-based). If you're interested just gimme a shout.

Cheers,

A'koss.

To toot my own horn, my personal favorite is one that I wrote: The Bondblade.

For published PrCs - I'm fond of the Eldritch Master (true name!), the Blood Magus (excellent use of blood-based abilities), the Alienist (Cthulhu rocks my world, and my fragile mind), and the Geomancer (drifts are one of the coolest concepts I've seen yet).

well I have a hard time choosing favorites. the ones that spring to mind would be Loremaster, Elemental Savant, ArchMage, Bladesinger(and Arcane Archer...to versions of a simliar idea)...I also like the concept of the Alienist a lot.
The Shadowdancer although not my usual cup of tea is very nicely done. I'm not a big fan of stealth characters but I may play a Bard/Shadowdancer some day.
That said theres loads more I like but those few are probably the ones I'm most likely to play soonest(and I have played the Elemental Savant(Air)).
Edit: This Eldritch Master everyone speaks of, where is it from?

As a DM: Ghostwalker. These guys make awesome recurring villians. Their ethereal jaunt and shadow walk powers allow easy escape when they get low on HP.

As a Player: Verdant Lord. I've always had a thing for ents.

I've got a few favorites.

1. Holy Liberator. It's easily accessible to bards, monks, clerics, rogues, ex-paladins--anyone with Diplomacy as a class skill. And since it only requires 5 ranks of Diplomacy, it's really easy to get into if you multiclass with one of the above classes. And the pre-req feat (Iron Will) is actually useful.

From a powergamer perspective, the abilities are great: Divine Grace, Smite, Turn Undead (giving access to Divine feats), resistance to enchantment, celestial companion (including the possibility of a winged celestial horse) spells (including Bless Weapon). All with a fighter's BAB.

From a roleplaying perspective, the idea of a divinely-inspired freedom fighter is very inspiring.

2. Templar. From a powergame perspective, this Prc just rocks. It gives Weapon Specialization at first level. Mettle and a successful save takes care of pesky Inflict, Harm, Poison, and most Death spells. Damage reduction, bonus feats, and spells are icing on a very powerful cake. Too bad that if you pay attention to the RP requirements (defending a temple), you'll have a hard time justifying an adventurer's lifestyle.

3. Shadowdancer. From a roleplaying perspective, this class is just plain cool. Very interesting abilities. My next character is going to be a shadowdancer. Too bad it's not very powerful in combat.

4. Duelist. If my next character isn't a Shadowdancer it'll be a duelist. Bonus: the feat pre-reqs are the same. Precise Strike effectively turns your rapier into a greatsword (with a better crit range). Deflect Arrows is fun. Play a monk/duelist, take Leadership as your 6th level feat, and get a mage cohort to cast Mage Armor and Int and Wis-boosting spells on you, and you'll be an AC king. Good times.

Favorites: (It's too hard to pick my overall favorite)

Pale Master (I've had about 4 villains with this PrC)
Elemental Savant
Acolyte of the Skin
Shadowdancer
Runecaster
Planeshifter

My favourite is the Holy Lib...

[Some shadowy figure hands him a note -- Particle_Man reads it and turns pale]

Er, that is, the Assassin! Yeah, that's my all time favourite, for sure! :)
