If I had any skill with a weapon I'd be one of those weapon finesse guys for sure.

WOW ! WIS 17 is a big claim... if 170 IQ = 17 INT that would mean 17 Wis has to be an exceptionally wise person.

Perhaps I should write a 'thesis' on this. Int 17 <> 170 IQ, except in 1E. It's so far off it's not even funny...

I still aruge that levels in core classes (paladin, rogue, ftr, etc.) are all valid. Some of us have had experience getting into places and getting out of places by being sneaky, some have done time in armed forces, some of us have worked as a solider for a religon, some people sing for a living and entertain the masses, etc.

Using the 'magic' principle explains a few things that some of us tech geeks can walk by things and touch them and they work all of a sudden. Why do you think my spells of 'cause fear' and 'identify' are important? I gotta know what is going on with the user and when i tell them what happened they are usually about to run away in fear when I tell them what it costs :D .

See technology is just a pretty way to explain magic, yup that's my story and my ability scores/classes.

I highly doubt anyone on here is above 10th level in terms of anythign sans some PHD wielding historian who would be an expert or perhaps a black belt in 2 marital arts forms that has had 10+years of training...

Skills: Profession (Law Enforcement) +10, Profession (Publisher) +6, Craft (books) +6, Knowledge (D&D) +11, Knowledge (Law Enforcement) +6, Appraise (art) +5, Bluff +4, Gather Information +9, Weapon Proficiency (modern) +10, Armor proficiency (modern) +3.

Feats: Playing the dumb guy (for my RL profession it is important), Charmer (always have nice looking women around me or Doug from MEG, can't explain it), Brutal Honesty (that sometimes causes issues)

Items: .357 S&W revolver, bullet proof vest, business cards (both professions), MEG books, cell phone, pager, unkempt hair, 4 copper (I am a publisher after all)

That may be it, not totally balanced but I am on my way to GenCon, and did not stat check myself.

heh this is true..very true hal..sometimes ignorance is bliss in your profession...

You are taking it the wrong way bud...I meant knowing they are doing something BUT acting like you have no clue, and waiting to nail 'em bad.
But your point has merit as well, I just don't do that, that often. Sometimes you have to, but I prefer CYA, especially in my field.
