What is your top question/concern about 4th edition?

While certainly not my biggest concern, the latest Des & Dev articles have showcased more and more art from the 4e MM.

Do we know that? I could've missed it, but I don't think they've ever said those pics are from the MM, have they?

I think my biggest concern is going to be the balance of at-will/per encounter/per day resources that they strike, and whether it's going to be to my liking. Past that, Having a hit point boost at 1st level and if they do this, what it will mean for gameplay.

past that, I am liking several of the other things I've seen so far.

If you look at the names of the images they are all labelled "/dnd/images/4e/" so I presume they must be... Unless they're placeholder images of some sort or just made for this article?

I will guarantee* you that the first four of those images you posted are sketches for D&D Miniatures. They match the pose and detail level of previous miniature sculpt sketches.

As for the Bar-Lgura? He just needs some good coloring and he'll be just fine.

*offer not valid in Tennessee.

edit: never mind. One look at the Miniatures Preview page should tell you they are *all* miniatures reference pictures. So you can relax now.

They could just as easily be design sketches. (There are usually about 80 zillion of those done in the early stages of any new edition.)

If they haven't specifically said, in so many words, "These are from the Monster Manual," I'd be inclined to think they're not.

Well I think it goes without saying I hope it's something along these lines. Maybe someone at WotC will chime in at some point...

Just how much change is there going to be? Is it just tweaks to this and that, or am I going to be reading the PHB and not recognizing much of anything?

I'm concerned about some of the large flavor/fluff changes that seem to be happening. I'm all for mechanic streamlining and simplification, but I'm afraid that flavor changes that are incompatible with my campaign (the changes to demons/devils, and the revised cosmology) will be deeply enough integrated into the new rules as to make it a major pain to updated my campaign to 4e.

Similarly, I'm worried about the whole wizard schools flavor, etc. In fact, I'm just overall worried about the implied flavor of the core rules, none of which I have liked thus far.

Ah this point I'm most worried about the magic system. Magic systems are always the part of RPGs that are hardest to make rules for and for me at least D&D magic has never evoked the sense of danger, mystery and wonder that fantasy magic should. It's all so fail-safe, flashy and formulaic.

If they can make wizards be men gifted with eldrich knowledge and not howitzers with legs I will be sooooooooooooo happy...
