D&D 5E What level did your MOST RECENT campaign get to?

Finished at about 15 or 16th (they had 8th level spells but I don’t recall them having 9th). An altered Out of the Abyss

Thats explicitly what they did.

Fast to 3rd, slow from 4th to 11th, then speeding up again to 20th.

The speeding up in the teens is really noticeable (it goes fast), as is the slowing down in the late single digits.

And it is something for Milestone DMs to note. A lot of Milestone DMs run every level for 3 to 4 sessions and then advance. That is not the recommendation from the books. I suggest targetting:

1 to 2: 6 hours
2 to 3: 8 hours (total 14 to go from 1 to 3)
3 to 5 and 4 to 5: 10 hours each
6 through 11: 15 hours each
12 to 20: 8 hours each

No, but it's a better rate than the book rate of 2-3 sessions IME.

15 in current campaign after 15 months (2-3 sessions a month). Previous went to 20 over 4 years (averaged only only about 10 sessions a year).
