I was in a game that stalled recently due to two of the players in the group having babies. I think they planned it that way so we wouldn't have to play past 11th level. Good job girls! (we hates high level D&D)

I am a 32nd level DM though.

CG Human Barbarian 10, started at 7th.

NE "Human" Transmuter 3 Master Specialist 5 Fatespinner 4, started at 12th (replacement for dead character)
.
I DM a game of 8th level characters, started at 3rd.

These numbers always amaze me. In twenty-five years of gaming, I've never had a character into the double-digit levels. Ever. At another forum, someone asked for everyone's most powerful character ever, and I had an eighth level and a seventh level character to choose between.

My current character, Saxifrage The Revocable, who I've been playing since about mid-July this past summer, has reached 2nd Level and is probably going to hit third in the next two sessions.

But I must admit, my group uses old school rules.

Same thing here. In the last 25 years, I have DM'ed three campaigns running 50 or more sessions each and in neither did anyone surpass level eight. Good thing too, judging from the comments of some of the high-level players in this thread.

Pbp: level 3. Started at level 1. :)

Face-to-face: Level 7, though for some reason I added the one I was DMing as well, which is level 8.

I'm curious why you think it's a good thing. I ask as a GM who ran 2e characters from 3rd-18th level and 3e from 1st-21st, with virtually no house rules. Not argumentative, just curious.

Interesting result so far. There's a definite tail-off after level 12, but otherwise the distribution looks good. What's up with level 9, though?

I've got 6 PbP characters only:

1st level Dwarven Fighter (Rise of the Runelords) - from 1st
2nd level Human Scout (Crown of the Kobold King) - from 1st
6th level Human Druid (Red Hand of Doom) - from 5th
6th level Human Wizard (Conjurer) (Shackled City) - from 1st
8th level Human Barbarian/Ranger/Horizon Walker (Age of Worms) - from 1st
11th level Human Druid (Iggwilv's Legacy) - from 11th
