What musical instruments do you play/own?

If happen to catch an Ohio State University Basketball or Hockey Game on TV or in person you might get to see me playing trombone in the pep band. And before you ask, No I am not in the Ohio State University Marching Band. It is a seperate group and sadly I possess quite flat feet which make high step style marching incredibly painful for me. I still cheer them on, knowing how tough it is just to get in gives me a lot of respect for those that have the time and drive to do it.

I started playing trumpet in elementary school and continued into senior year HS. Threw the thing out a few years after that.

Sr. year in HS played the french horn. Never owned one since it was the school's.

Have played piano for a looooong time and have some compositions under my belt that I've played at recitals and such.

Play handbells and even directed the bell choir at my church for a year.

Guess that's it besides singing tenor in our community choir and church choir.

Well I love music, but I'm picky about what I like.

As for playing. Started Piano when I was 8 or so, played for a few years and cried myself out of it finally. I was forced to play all the classics and strange songs I've never heard.

Playing guitar since I was 14 or so (gonna be 25 soon.)

Did the concert and metal thing.

Now I've been on drums about a year, and getting ready to record and play out some more.

I want an electric violin, and bass comes easy.

Does the recorder from kindergarter count? Twinkle little star was my favorite.

I own my Ibanez Saber, some crappy 7 string, an Ibanez Acousitc, a Casio Keyboard, some effects stuff, amps, 1/2 stack cab (CRATE) and the drum set over here.

BTW I envy the guy with the Roland V -Drums (5K there) but I don't like the way the hi hat feels, or the symbols. Everything else is neat.

Time spent on DnD almost as much spent on Music. Throw in a GF and some friends, along with work, and I'm booked up.

ENWORLD kills a few hours too.

peace-

I've got a Washburn N2 which I like a lot because it's got the slimmest of necks and is superlight. And I realy the naturel oil finish. My acoustic guitar is made in japan (Suzuki, no relation to the cars) something between a medium and a dreadnought.

BUT: I'm not realy getting round to playing anymore.

Up t'ill early 2002 I've been working in shifts (VERY irregular) which made it very difficult to do anything on a regular basis.

Now, between a full-time job and 3 RPG groups I play with and one I DM my free time is pretty scarce. What free time I get is either spent relaxing with a DVD/VIDEO or playing one of the myriad other games I play on occasion (Warhammer, Mordheim, any of several boardgames, ...)

Idealy I' like to win the loteryn bot have to go work anymore and have time to play games AND play guitar.

[edit: ... and because of what I mentioned above: my amp and effects are all gone, just a Pignose II with a bad batterie and a KORG Pandora pocket effects processor are left]

I played tenor sax and sang with an R&B band for 7 or 8 years...

At last count, I have two tenors, a baritone sax, an alto, a lefty acoustic guitar, three harmonicas and two tin whistles.

And every day I go into work, I miss playing out for a living...

I own an Armstrong student flute....go me! :D

I'm probably going to pick up a piccolo soon *shudders* and try and learn it... I'm seriously thinking of trying out for the Marching Illini once I head down to U of I and they don't march flutes there. I've been playing ...since 6th grade...so like 7 years almost.

edit--I want to hear NO American Pie jokes here!!! LOL :D

Seriously though...the flute rocks... easy to carry, and I sit in a section made up almost entirely of girls.

I have a cello. I played it for 8 years (5th grade through 12th grade). I am still only average at it.

I possess little to no real music talent... I only got by in school because I was good at supporting the others during the easy parts and really good at faking it during the hard parts.

:)

For the past 8 years, however, the cello has more or less collected dust. I keep thinking I'll sell it but it's one of those things that just never gets done (lack of motivation, don't like to haggle prices, and don't want to tell my parents that worked so hard to buy it for 1K dollars that it is sold for even less than they paid...)

I used to play the Air Guitar all the time - got pretty good at it too :D

Nowdays I find that age and a realisation at how ridiculous I look has dimmed my playing. But rarely in public :o

My sister (and a player in my campaigns) seems to have inherited all the musical talent in our family she owns more instruments than I can name, plays in several bands/groups/quartets/choirs and taught professionally as well until poverty forced into more mainstream work.

She plays Bards a lot as well :)

Her daughters seem to have a musical bent as well - although my kids are about as musical as I :)
