What nice things has a fellow EN Worlder done for you?

Nice thing highlights:

Some years ago I was planning to visit Vermont, flying in to Boston with my family. I contact Piratecat for advice on where to stay in Boston and he graciously offers for my wife, daughter and I to stay at their pad (and helps tremendously with all kind of gubbins like hiring cars and stuff). My wife is a non-gamer and was a little... concerned... at the idea but found Kevin and Peggy delightful, and later rated that as the highlight of the whole trip.

I've met and really enjoyed the company and gaming with a number of ENworlders here and there, of course.

The most recent bit of unsolicited niceness came a few months ago. I happened to mention in a thread about the original Fiend Folio that I never owned a copy despite having three monsters in there (I couldn't afford it at the time). A few days later a copy anonymously appeared on my doorstep.

ENworld contains some of the coolest people I've met, and most of the coolest people that I've not met in person yet...

Cheers

I've had the pleasure of meeting PC and Qualidar in Boston earlier this year, as well as dragonlordofpoontari and Col Hardison in San Diego, also earlier this year. I met several folks at GenCon 2004, and have had the pleasure of trading with many folks from ENWorld's marketplace over the years, too.

The nicest thing anyone has done for me though, has got to be Destan allowing Different Worlds to publish his Valus setting and Ippizicus Child-Eater adventure in 2004 :D

Morrus definitely wins with the WotC thing. No contest. That's just great.

As for my end...well, about three years ago I was in a really rough spot in my life, stuck in another country with a ton of things going wrong in my life. I posted here for advice, and got a ton of it. And all of it helped, and I like to think that all of that advice and suggestions and support from everyone here kept me at least a little bit sane through a really hard time in my life. :)

Mine is not quite as real-life awesome as most of the above but...

BiggusGeekus posted a huge, detailed plot idea in a thread I started about needing some plot hooks for a new group I had gotten going.

I didn't end up using the idea for that group, but I eventually adapted it to be the basis of a Play-by-Post I'm running on Gleemax.

That Play-by-Post, along with some of the other things I've done on the Gleemax forums got the attention of the powers that be and they offered me an opportunity I'm not at liberty to discuss at the moment.

So, BiggusGeekus is partially responsible for making one of my gaming dreams come true. :D

A guy posted a thread contest so he could get rid of his extra gaming books. Whoever guessed a number the closest to the one he was thinking of wins a book. I one a D20 adventure and he sent it free of charge. That was cool :)

I'm sorry that I don't remember his name though...I'm really bad with names.

You know, I've been here a long time and heard a lot of stories.

I've never gotten any of this kindness, but mostly because I'm too proud to ask.

And beleive me, I could use the charity.

This is a great place, and I'm glad so many people are willing to help out complete strangers.

alsih20, sadly no longer a poster here - was very generous to me. Sent me tons of ideas and some art!

I received an anonymous gift of over 200 metal miniatures after stating in a minis thread I was finally under 1,000 unpainted miniatures! I'm not sure if that was nice or mean ;)

When did alish20 stop posting here? And how come?
