Voted "no wizard", since there is a sorcerer in our current party (two actually, if you count the dragon disciple with one sorcerer level and no clue about spellcasting ;)).

As for the wizards I've seen in our games, we had elven, dwarven, halfling, gnome and human wizards, with elves and humans being the most common.

In my PbP there is a gnome wizard.

In our current campaign we have a human (now drow) Swashbuckler/Fighter/Wizard/Duelist (our only arcane caster, with only one level wizard :))

I probably should have voted "no wizard", there is none in our 2 current groups. Instead I made the mistake of thinking of the previous groups  Is there any chance to edit your vote?

In the game I play in we have a human diviner. Used to have a second wizard (a human conjurer) but he got to be dinner for a Wyvern.

In the game I run there is no wizard.

I've seen a lot of dwarf wizards in my various 3.0/3.5 campaigns. Because one of the wizard players 'has an empathy with dwarves'. (More like enjoys the high con and bonus saves :) ).

I play one and DM one D&D campaign, both of which are currently on hiatus while we play a bit of Shadowrun. In both cases the Wizards are human. Another D&D game which finished recently (an experimant with multiple overlapping parties) had no wizards or elves of any type in about a dozen PCs.

I voted for human only, but I just remembered my first ever 3e PC was an elf wizard. Sorry.

glass.

No wizard or sorcerer in the current group I DM, but we have 2 bards, a blaster druid and a cleric besides the rogue, monk & fighter/barbarian, so they aren't exactly short on spell-casting.

In previous 3e/3.5 campaigns, there were some elf wizards, a human and a dwarf wizard and a half-elf sorceress.

IMHO, for a wizard/sorc in 3.5, CON tends to be much more important than DEX. It's hard to overcome is the elf -2 penalty on CON, and it certainly doesn't mix well with the puny d4 hp per level. I think that's a big reason why most players look at playing other races for casters, and especially why we tend to see a lot more dwarf wizards/sorcs than might be expected.

I have always ended up playing the caster, mostly because I really like the magic side of the fantasy (I can already swing a sword around). First campaign I played a Sun Elf wizard, and in the current campaign a Human Druid/Wizard/Mystic Theurge (and yes, I'm totally pysched about Races of the Wild).

Current games:

Planescape: Tinker gnome (who's got some sort of construct template on him now)

al Qadim: Grey elf (who, after a DM comment of Hiteian style, I now picture as Supreme Commander Thor in a turban)

Past games:

Birthright: Human and half-elf. Oh, and there was an elven awnshegh named Death Blossom.

I voted for Sun Elf and Dwarf since while the wizard started as a sun elf then got reincarnated as a dwarf.

Hmm... Replace the -2 Con by +2 Con, so it's +4 Con boost. Don't lose the Int bonus, don't acquire the Cha penalty, as they are mental abilities.

This is a much better deal than our Dwarf that got reincarnated as an Elf. Can you believe a frontline Fighter with Constitution 6? :p
