What rocks on Xbox?

DOA: Beach Vollyball. Sure, sure. It's a fanservice game. I'll admit to that. But it's *fun*. It's one of the few games for the 'box I have that I can honestly say I can just load up, sit down, and play till I don't feel like playing anymore... It doesn't require any great investment or, I dunno, *drive*, I guess, to play. I can turn the X-Box on, play for a few, quite, and no biggy. It's sorta the solitare of X-Box, I guess. :)
That actually makes alot of sense. It's fun in a brainless, low stress kinda way. I've gotten plenty of hours of fun and relaxation out of my $50 investment in it. Good call, Tsyr.

Well, on the good news side, a Bloody Roar Extreme is slated for Xbox release in May.

I'm thinking Dead or Alive for a fighter, Halo coz it's neato.
Then, Mechassault for my mech fix (but it's no Armored Core... sigh)...

Looking a bit better. I may get a PS2 yet, but only when the money from Atlas Games and White Wolf rolls in. Not something I can squeeze into my normal budget. :(

So, about this Xbox live, what's the scoop? I notice Mechassault reviews say it's a must for that game. What gives?

Thanks for all your words and advice. They've given me a lot to chew on and think over...

You might want to try Gunvalkyrie (a free-roaming hard-core action game) and Panzer Dragoon Orta (a stylish on-rail shooter). Both games are by Smilebit, the same division of Sega that's responsible for Jet Set Radio Future.

You took the recomendations right out of my mouth...

So I'll have to throw in Shenmue II and Phantasy Star Online if you don't have a dreamcast.

Could you tell me a little more about these two? I remember hearing a bit about Shenmue I, but seem to have missed any talk of II. What do you like about those two games?

I'll throw in another recomendation for Shenmue 2. I suggest getting it some where will a liberal return policy in case you end up not liking it, it's a good game, but one some people can't stand.

For fighting games keep in mind Capcom vs. SNK 2 (with honest to god online play) and Soul Calibur 2 (which will be out relatively soon).

I'll second Capcom vs. SNK 2.

Soul Calibur 2 won't be out in the U.S. until August. That goes for all platforms. So close, yet so far. :(

I was wondering what the perqs are of Capcom VS> SNK. I like the arcade version of Capcom vs. Marvel... dunno if I've ever played the SNK one though...

Nothing a like. CVS2 is like a standard SF or SNK game. You choose from six different grooves (styles, modes, what have you), that set your characters to play like they're in another game (SFA, SF3, SSF2T, SS, um some other SNK fighter). If you like SF or KoF this would be the game to get.

If you like MVC2 according to Gamefaqs it was released at the end of March for the box.

And the Japanese GC version will be at my apartment this afternoon. I'll post impressions after the weekend...

BTW ncsx.com is a great site for importing.
