D&D (2024) What Should 1D&D Resurrect? +

Reynard

Legend
What's something from D&D's long and storied history would you like to see 1D&D bring back to the game? It could be a setting, an adventure, a class or race, a specific mechanic, or anything really.

Please keep it positive and avoid both edition warring and fighting about OGL issues, thanks

For my part: prestige classes.

Not your screen monkey (he/him)
I don't think I'd want to see prestige classes in the way they appeared in 3e - requiring actual multi-classing. But more specialties that reach across class themes like the arcane archer and arcane trickster? Sure, sign me up.

I'll add:
Gen special familiars

We've got imps, quasits, pseudodragons. But now that Tasha's added the Genie patron for warlocks, one missing feature that kind of glares is the lack of gens as special familiars.

If they’re hell-bent on a 3D VTT with all the bells and whistles, full automation, animation, etc then the should bring back 4E in all its glory. It was made for that experience. All the problems of playing it at the table would be solved as a fully automated VTT experience.

Won't happen. Any chance of that was killed last week. Sorry.

But since we are talking 4e, I want healing surges back.
