And now for even more concealment pick up Straw Soliders the new lv 20 daily. Just hit something over the head and you everyone you know gains concealment through.. well I don't know what. Anyway you can find this in dragon Wolves of Maldeen article.

Effect: You and your allies gain concealment against all attacks until the end of your next turn.
Sustain Minor

ack.. more concealment fun...

Stealth as written says you AVOID notice. With all the dictionaries cracking open around here, I feel justified in pointing out that it doesn't REMOVE notice. So once you have been spotted, you have to move to a place where you can't be seen before trying to stealth again. (Superior Cover or Total Concealment, which state you can not be seen in the Stealth rules.)

This.

Anyone that wants to do ranged combat advantage needs a source of superior cover/concealment to re-stealth. Makes sense to me.

Thanks Xorn.

Therefore: If you are in a square with superior cover, and there is an adjacent square with superior cover, you could stealthily move into the other square and back into the one you were originally in, and attain "stealth" status?

Ah, you could also (once per combat) make a Bluff check to create a diversion and THEN make a Stealth check.

However, I must point out that the rules for FAILING a stealth check say: "You can’t try again unless observers become distracted or you manage to obtain cover or concealment."

Note that it says "cover or concealment" NOT "superior cover or total concealment".

This seems to contradict that Xorn was saying.

Ok, so if two people who say they "get it" come to different conclusions, how do we decide which of them really does "get it"? Roll a dice, perhaps?

It doesn't matter one jot; what matters to me is what happens at my table. Anyway, I cannot see any diametrically opposed opinions being expressed anyway. Why so aggressive?

DMG melee cover rules

They are optional, apparently intented to give more precision. In effect, they mean that you can have cover at a corner, when using PHB cover rules, you couldn't.

E
XP

With E as Enemy, P as PC, X as the corner of the terrain

Are they relevant? because, with them, cover is at least a little easier, at corners.

What if a goblin sees you ducks behind a small statue that gives you partial cover? Can you hide from it? The way I see it, according to the RAW you can.

I am not saying RAW does not say that because that is exactly want it says:
Cover or Concealment:Unless a creature is distracted, you must have cover against or concealmentfrom the creature to make a Stealth check. You have to maintain cover or concealment to remain unnoticed.

I am saying that D&D is now an exception based game and as a general rule RAW works but there are exceptions that a DM is best equipped to handle as opposed to 4 pages of text that rules lawyers will still try and abuse. If a player of a 6’ human who is standing behind a 2’ wall and says he wants to hide from the ogre on the other side of the wall he can certainly try, but the DC the DM sets should be very very high.

This skill is used against another creature’s Perception check or against a DC set by the DM.
