What to do about domains published elsewhere

Should we consider removing all the domains from WotC products? Those are not OGL after all. We are just a web project, but still...

So, our questions are:

1) Do we want to use domains from other sources that we've been using, but which don't have unique spells in them?

2) If the answer to the above is Yes, do we find other domains for the ones that do have unique spells in them, or do we simply swap the unique (non-OGL) domains for spells that are open gaming content?

Legally we are banned from such, yes. I would feel much more comfortable in general if we reserved the use of non-OGL stuff from other publishers for posting in the Round Table Rules forum.

Unfortunately we can't put god domains in Round Table Rules because that'd break the PDF. This got me to thinking we could just swap the closed content spells for new ones or OGL ones. As a bonus, that'd be the easiest solution from the perspective of editing the changes into the book, but that should not be the primary factor to consider...

One way to get around it is name them but don't write them out. It would be on the players to find out what those domains/spells are.

The same way we allow feats from Defenders of the Faith but don't have them written out.

Couldn't we get around it by keeping the mechanics of the spell, change the name and write up for it?

Personally, I don't think it's so much of a big deal, if we do include a dozen or so non-OGL spells. I would think WotC is more worried about people that want to copy the whole book. And it's not like were planning on selling this for a profit (or at all), its for a small comunity of gamers.

Let's go ahead and do that, then. Sounds good. Anyone want to make that happen? The book nearly ready, the editor tells me, so we can plug it in as soon as we're ready.

What exactly do you want to make happen? the rewrite with same mechs, or just a straight write up of those not OLG as they are now?

Rewrite (and rename?) the spells that might be a problem (which are listed out). We can include those spells, then, in the book under new spells. The domain listings would change to reflect the new name. This shouldn't be a problem, as you said.
