What to do, what to do?

gaming again this Sunday.

after many long and deadly months we have reached a semi climactic point in the campaign. but we will be a couple players down for the session.

so the question then is do we go forward or bag out and try and find a side quest?

party present:

fiddle skipstone: rogue 4/ ranger 6/ dragonslayer 4 (me)
ozlo sullygrub: sorcerer 13 (JoeBlank ... won't be there)
fexter stoneblood: ranger 1/ monk 2/ fighter 5/ justiciar 5 (howandwhy99) currently dead
chloe hartspur: druid 14 (loki44)
alya silverleaf: bard 10/ arcane archer 4 (biorph)
vlad greycloak: rogue 7/ fighter 6 (Sam not a poster here)

NPC: Marcus of Tyr paladin 13? (Olgar Shiverstone the DM)

party missing and players won't be there anyway Dunnin Anvilgate: ranger 7/ rogue 6 (Rob.. i'm not sure what his handle is here)
darian dawnguard fighter 2/ cleric 6/ morninglord of lathander 5 (Aristoi)

so right now it seems like howandwhy99 will roleplay JoeBlank's PC for the session.

so far the consensus has been that we need to not lose momentum.

but the battle we are about to face will involve CR 17 monsters at least considering the last encounter we just fought included 2 of them.

we are already low on spells.

and our option to flee is minimal for the whole group. the druid can airwalk 4 of us plus herself plus the dead guy as luggage... but that leaves someone.

this is the City of the Spider Queen btw... the story hour in my sig. i'm finishing the update tonight.

so if we don't go... it means another month before we play again. which means we may not remember what to do.

I wouldn't bag out on anything because the party "only" had six characters for the team.

these same 6 PCs got their hats handed to them by 4 CR 10 undead. edit: thus why we picked up the paladin

can i tell JoeBlank you caused his PC to die? ;)

Yes. Please, tell JoeBlank that I . . .

WAIT A MINUTE! NO!!

That's not what I meant!

Seriously, all I'm saying is that if the consensus wants to play and the DM is in the consensus, what's the point of asking? No matter how extensive your post, no one will ever know the situation and all of the details and nuances like the DM and group that have already made the decision. Are you not part of this consensus?
