Is it impossible to ask Joe what he wants? If it´s okay if somebody else plays his character?

Damned straight. If I get to go to Disneyworld, I can't deprive my friends of the fun of gaming. The show must go on!

And I am (over)confident in howandwhy99's ability to run Ozzy. He says his favorite class to play is Wizard (Ozzy is a sorc, but close enough).

Believe me, if there is a TPK I will know that you guys did everything you could to prevent it. Have fun!

And do post the results, or better yet email them. I should have internet access while hanging with Mickey, and I would love to know how it works out.

I'll email an updated copy of Ozzy tomorrow, complete with info on what spell slots she has left.

Would you consider the DM safe-play the missing characters?

When we're really afraid of a TPK because someone's missing (especially if a cleric), we often agree that the DM plays the PC in safe-mode, meaning that the PC is in the background: does not make any decision, attempt to influence the plot, or actively uses any of his ability unless someone else in the party asks for it; during combat the safe-played PC contributes with his abilities but doesn't provide tactical ideas; the PC cannot die in safe-mode but doesn't get any xp.

The idea is to reduce the PC to a numerical support to the party in terms of some attacks or healing spells, like it was more a summoned creature.

the DM (Olgar Shiverstone) gives the player the option. have someone else play your PC and possible death. earn 75% xp plus the other player earns 25%. or have the DM play the PC for reduced xp and still possible death.

or have the PC stay "guarding the horses". no possible death. no xp.

As the only pure arcane caster (there is a bard/arcane archer), it would be tough on the group for me to remove my character from the action for a session. Especially given that we have come to rely on teleport a good bit, as well as a few other spells that help us get around in the underdark (mass darkvision, seeming, etc.).

Besides, if howandwhy99 does not mind playing Ozzy then this works out perfectly, since his PC is down and out.

don't blame us if you come back pregnant. :]

looks like we will be pushing for the TPK.

i've got 13 PCs already made up that i have been levelling up on the side since lvl 7 to reinsert afterwards.

unless the group decides to go on a different tangent like Age of Worms or Shackled C...
