What types of D&D books do you want to see?

I am quite happy to be able to find nearly anything I want from third party d20 publishers, so what I would make if given the reins of WotC?

1) Miniatures that are much better painted!! And you can choose what minis you want to purchase.

2) Modular campaign settings. Now we have enough settings between Eberron, FR, Dawnforge, Midnight, Dragonlance, Kalamar, and many others. I want to produce very detailed small parts of a setting that can be used by anyone having a homebrew: the Valley of Xanthiu, the Island of Dodilor, the City of Tarumal, and whatnot. There would be many modules like that just 30 or 50 pages long, and you would buy just the ones that interest you, to build your setting.

3) Big CD with everything (Crunch only: classes, feats, etc. from books and Dragon Magazines) put on it in dozens of PDF. But not plain text as in the old 2e CD; I want a pdf per character class, printer friendly, but with a clear and pleasant layout. Just a simple black and white illustration. As such, the DM chooses what classes he wants for his setting, and discards the others, just printing what he will use. Since people much like books in full color, this shouldn't hinder the sales of the normal books I hope...

Instead, I'd look at producing a software product, which would serve as a "DM-in-a-box".
I don't like the idea of replacing the DM with a CRPG that a bunch of players have to huddle around, if that's what you're suggesting. That would ruin the whole point of RPGs for me, at least.

A DM toolbox, however, that helps me run the game by taking care of a lot of mechanics, is appealing... if it comes out for Mac. :) Then all I need is a laptop...

Specifically, I want Thieves World. I want this most of all.

Generally, I want smarter books. I want books that challenge the reader with concepts and ideas. I want books that are not written for the common everyday gamer.

Alternatively (and probably more to the point), you are the project manager at Wizards. You decide which products will be made. Which products do you want to see? (You have the world's perfect designer to work on them ;))

Cheers!

3e and 3.5 books on pdf. More material in the srd where it is easy to get the rules bits quickly and copy and paste them for use.

Oh yeah, that. I forgot about the minis.

Along with being able to choose what minis you want to purchase, I would like made available a male and female mini of each WotC-book race (so it includes planetouched, for example) of each WotC-book base class (so it includes the swashbuckler and hexblade, for example).

Such a product would ideally have 2 modes of operation, and be able to run as a stand-alone interactive DM-substitute, or as a DM-assistant handling anything from rules issues or more depending on how much the DM wants it to do. It would also ideally be written to run under Linux and thus be portable to any hardware platform. The software would run on a laptop, and the electronic battlemat accessory would plug into a USB or Firewire port.

In my perfect world, it would be debuting this week, at GenCon.

I would like to see a book of rule varients (ala Unearthed Arcana) dealing with different styles of campaigns. For example running a low magic game, running a mythic (not necessarily high magic) game, running a pulp game, etc.

Alert! Shameless Plug coming up:

Several on this thread have mentioned a 1-20 adventure path campaign as something they would like to see. It just so happens that a co-author and I are almost done writing exactly that. It has been a 3 year project.

This sounds great, but if you are not quite done writing a December release seems pretty optimistic to me.

I will certainly buy it when it comes out. Adventures are one of the few things I buy on a regular basis these days and I appreciate that you are making the campaign modular!
