Dropped back into Stardew Valley after six years. It took me an embarrassingly long time (two weeks IRL, two seasons in game) to figure out why my chickens were mad at me. It turns out that Leg, Dinner, Jurgen, and Silky Steve would prefer not to starve.

I just finished playing Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order again. I managed to beat it at the highest difficulty rating with very little difficulty save for the final boss encounter which took me four attempts. Great game.

In my continued quest to find the world’s most mediocre turn-based tactics game, I’ve been having a go at the 2012 adaption of Warhammer Quest. It’s a pretty shallow dungeon crawler: kill monsters, get loot, repeat. Despite the repetitiveness, I found it entertaining enough; it’s a good gameplay loop and the occasional overwrought Warhammer writing is funny enough. It can be actually difficult, too: if you roll badly on random encounters you can get quickly overwhelmed by high-level monsters. Overall I rather liked it as something to pick up, bash out a mission or two, and then forget about for another week or so. I just wish they’d made the mechanics more transparent- there’s clearly a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes and I’d love to have seen the numbers.
