My first kill was an xvart, taken down with a magic missile. Then we got to the bugbears, which we fought at range while all of us were trapped in a pit.

Demiurge out.

Giant Rat
Killed it with a stroke of my longsword after it bit my half-elf fighter in the foot.
Never made it to thief or bard levels. Oh well.

Put me down for Giant Ant.

We were in a homebrew ruined temple and three giant ants attacked the party from behind a pile of rubble. I was playing an elven F/MU named Syldaren.

Good times, good times...

Cyrano, he was a 1st level gnome wizard (illusionist I believe) and he was killed by a bunch of kobolds chunking javalens across a pit.

Well he could have been a monster... >_>

But if you arn't going to count that I didn't actually play as a player for years, not until 3E D&D in fact, a few years ago. I killed some goblins who ambushed us on the road. They had crossbows.

hmmm very few Orc responses , even though that's the stereotypical 1st level monster. Do'h I forgot to add skeletons, zombies, wights, etc.

Waaay back(for me, anyway) ...

The first monster I ever killed in DnD was that 2hp snake that is guarding treasure in the player book from the red box(1st ed.)

This wasn't the first time I played, but it was my first kill.

Probably not the first battle, but the one that I actually remember from my first game was against a human cleric that was found pretending to be sleeping, and then got up and attacked when I looted the chest in the room (I was six years old and running an entire party worth of adventurers. Talking with things in the dungeon was never even considered). A number of years later, when I actually understood how the game was supposed to be played and started up in a real campaign, my first kill was a human thug of some sort, but we got TPK'ed by the rest of the thugs so it didn't matter.

I hadn't thought back to either of those incidents in a while. Now it becomes clear to me why my ranger has Favored Enemy (Humans) :D .

I believe it was a hill giant. Basic D&D, came in at above 1st level, almost certainly as a dwarf.

But it's been a very long time, and I was about 6, so I could be wrong. :)
